Oppo is suddenly all over it. Not that im criticising, I do this all the time with cars. I dislike every gen 3 series when its released then grow fonder as it gets older/ replaced.

No freaking idea why everybody hates on the Panamera. I have never driven one, but it’s the exact kind of family sports car I’d love to own. I really like the design and it seems to be a fun car if you push it. I guess people keep on comparing it with the 911 design-wise which is why they “hate” it. But I look at the car without its badge on it, not thinking “911", and I truly think its a great design for the poor guy with money, stucked with 2 young kids and his wife and no parking space for a week-ender.
Panamera FTW! (but yeah, I’d still buy an M5 instead of a Panamera. Still a great car nonetheless)

I’ve always love the Panamera, so do I get to be smug about the fact that you’re all just a bunch of posers or something?
As far as the topic; the funniest car I’ve seen this happen to was the MKZ redesign. I’ve never seen anyone say they loved the split-wing grille design on the old MKZ, but now that it’s gone, all of the sudden almost everyone seems to have loved it? Beats the fuck out of me.

Nope, best I can do is 18.500€ for a slightly used one:

Last week we had a customer come in to put light tan - leather in his brown Crosstour. This is the color:
He had it lowered on 20" Vossen wheels. I asked him about it and he said “Well, since I can’t afford a Porsche Panamera this is the next best thing...”
It wound up looking really good.
Like this, but brown and on 20s instead of 22s:

I’ve always liked the Panamera. I never thought it was ugly except in Mansory trim.

I like the Panamera, always have, and I would love to have one as a cross-country tourer if I hit it big and take an early retirement. It just seems perfect for that. And when I compare it to the rest of the class (Rapide, Quattroporte, A7, etc), it seems like a downright logical and rational choice. I'm normally anti-sedan because there's just too much compromise, but I give this one a pass. It's a modern 928 with 4 doors.

lol it does sort of look like a Panamera :)
Then again, I would never buy a car for its look, but the driving experience it provides (and yes I’ve owned a red SN95 Mustang, a yellow C4 Corvette and curently daily drive a white and blue SA22C Rx7, waiting for a 911 SC with a green bonnet and white body.... I REALLY only focus on the driving experience haha)

I think the Panamera’s a fantastic form factor (although I’ve never sat in, much less driven, one) - liftback versatility in a roomy package.
The problem with the 970 is really the roofline - it’s in this weird uncannyvalley between fastback and squareback. A 970 wagon would’ve looked fine, and a slight drop of the rear roofline, and stretch it a bit longer, to make it the rear less curved and less steep, would’ve looked fine.
Which is what they appear to have done on the 971, so... (Wonder what the effect on rear headroom is, though - it could’ve hurt the rear ergonomics, unless they also managed to get the rear seat lowered, too.)

They wanted to do a 4-seater shooting brake... That’s what they did. Can’t say I don’t like it though :)

I’ve always liked the Panamera. Its a hard car to capture in a photo. It always looks fat and weirdly proportioned. In person its beautiful and hauls ass and the kids.

I’m calling it now, oPPo is nothing but a bunch of hipsters. It is only cool until it is out of style.

Ignoring the revolting hunchback for a mo’... I HATE those taillights. They're not designed. It's like they shaped the body, remembered they had five minutes to turn it in, and then just scribbled a vaguely reddish egg shape for the lights.

I absolutely love the front end. The back, that’s just a weird mix of liftback/hatch that just went wrong.

That 3-series comment is so true. As soon as the new one goes on sale I bet the F30 will be heralded as a “perfectly balanced sports sedan with comfort and fun.”
