This just in: BiTurbo228 buys another hulk of a Spitfire. In other news: world still round and water still wet.

Kinja'd!!!

I did get it for £114 though! Very lucky on eBay. The sale of the Minilite wheels should cover that cost, and I picked up a set of good seats from the guy for £30 too. (If anyone was wondering how much that is in $, just times it by 1.5 and then subtract 10c for every day after 52% of the people in our particular boat decided to drill a hole in the bottom so they could have control over whether the ship sank or not).

Kinja'd!!!

No idea what the plan is with this one yet. We’ll see what engine pops up cheaply if/when I’ve got money to buy it and then go from there :)

You know, you’ve become a man of quite singular skill in that matter. You’re nearly on track to form a whole junker Spit racing league, and anyone who founded one would be a fool not to call on you.

Your yard starts to look more and more like a junkyard...

Just kidding :p

If I had that much space and access to cars that cheap, chances are I’d do the same.

Buff right out, that will. How many do you have now?

Nice set of wheels.

I pass a Spitfire the same color as that one every day on my way to work that doesn’t look like it has moved in a decade or more. It’s in better shape. Then again, yours is the bigger challenge!

Now that would be cool! It would be a spec-chassis racing series :) I provide the suspension, chassis and bodyshell (welded to each other, naturally). Competitors provide the engines :)

How cool would that be?

Nice :) grab some pictures!

Yeah the climate in the south east of England is pretty bad for classics. Damp a lot of the time and they salt the roads at the slightest hint of snow. This was an ex-Brighton car as well so on the coast with all that lovely salty sea air...

It actually looks in better shape in the pictures than it actually is. Decent sized rust holes up the a-pillars and across the trailing edge of the bootlid.

Nothing that’s not fixable though. Just need to get it sheltered til I can get around to doing it...

I know! Because of the way my logic seems to work, those are getting sold to cover the cost of the rest of it...

Three now! And probably enough bits lying round for them to be complete as well...

If you mean buff right out of existence, then yeah. It’s not as good as the pictures make it look rust-wise.

It would be part of the competition!

Timed engine installation determines the qualifying.

Where are you, and how much do you want for the wheels?

I’m in the South East (near Edenbridge), and £120 would certainly do it. Need to recoup my losses on this one!

I can courier them for £33 if you're far away.

I’m in Cambridge and won’t be that way for a little while so courier would be preferable. Is there a way to PM on here?

Yeah the family do call it ‘Bridges’ which is the name of the local pull-a-part :S

I've been warned that I'm not allowed to start stacking cars on top of each other. That's a step too far :S
