According to the !!!error: Indecipherable SUB-paragraph formatting!!! , the 2017 Genesis G80 will receive the same drivetrain options as the 2015 Hyundai Genesis Sedan. That means a 3.8L NA V6 in RWD or with HTRAC AWD, and a 5.0L NA V8 in RWD only. This is strange because for the MY 2016 Hyundai Genesis Sedan, the V8 was dropped all together! A month or two ago we saw the Genesis G80 Sport unveiled in Korea showing off a 365 hp and 376 lb-ft of torque producing TTV6 with AWD.

I guess it will have a separate launch to keep excitement for the brand going until the G70 hits the market. I’m curious to see the marketing strategy worked through. Good to see the V8 back. Out here, 50% of the Hyundai Genesis Sedans bought were the V8, so I get to see them often and they look freaking magical!

It's curious why the designers only put AWD on the V6 and not the (more premium) V8 model...?

They did, but only in Canada for some reason. I guess there isn’t a snow belt in the U.S. or anything full of buyers who love AWD...

The V8 sounds excellent for sure. And the TTV6 is great in the G90 so it will be awesome in the G80 without a doubt. Patience, Wobbles. Patience.

Work has been rough, a lot of changes that need to be implemented. But now I have a bunch of crazy ideas I need to share!

I understand work getting rough, but I will look forward to your crazy ideas.

Speaking of crazy, is there anywhere listed a schedule of where and when Genesis Brand dealerships will be opening up? Have I asked you that before? I can't remember...

I wouldn’t expect standalone dealerships anytime soon. You’ll probably hear about a couple of standalone dealers just after the G70 comes out, but most dealerships will develop a separate showroom alongside the Hyundai portion. I think it will be another 4 years before you can begin to expect to see a true separation of the marque from the parent (because 5 models and an upcoming sport coupe is plenty to break away with).
