The City of Cleveland said they were expecting 500,000 to attend the downtown Cavs Championship Parade today.. I’m guessing more like 1 million. There is also a THREE HOUR WAIT to get onto the Rapid Transit Trains (Public Transport) right now to take people downtown. THIS. IS. NUTS!

And this guy... He gets it.

Parade rolls by as crowd chants in excitement “WE LOVE YOU LEBRON!” *As they hold up the charred remains of their LeBron jerseys*

I used to work along the parade route of a team that won a few championships. I didn’t like the team (hated them, actually), so it was no big deal to me. If traffic was this bad in the morning, I would probably not have gone into work.
But I’d be sooooo unhappy if I had to waste a vacation day for a team I didn’t care about.

I saw the news put estimates between 700,000 to 1 million last night. I wouldn’t be surprised if it’s over a million. I had friends fly in; let alone come in from the ‘burbs using the RTA.

I was in the Q for the watch party Sunday night. It was amazing. Outside it was insane. People riding on top of cars, on top of news equipment, climbing lamp poles etc. For the most part 90% of the people were sane. I got more high 5s and hugs from strangers than I’ve had in my life.
Today its going to be even crazier and the upside is most won’t be drunk. Heard on radio while d=heading to work that traffic was already slowing down between Akron and Cleveland at 7am. I’m betting on the largest traffic jam this area has ever seen. I can confirm the guess of 500k to 1 million attending today and then later in week we will have the Akron party which will be a fraction of the size but equally out of control. Like they said earlier, 52 yrs!

Not likely. Mayor declared it a holiday and everyone expected this. Anyone who works in Cleveland and isn’t AT LEAST allowed to work from home today, has a terrible job

Unfortunately, some jobs are terrible.
To compare, I do some degree of work outside but we’re held inside when it’s storming. You’re still expected to be at work and be there on time, though. I have a co-worker who drives 85 miles one-way and then gets told that it’s not safe to drive.
So a company saying “too bad, you’re expected to be here” during a championship parade would not be a surprise at all.

What city do you live in? I totally understand what you’re saying, but it’s difficult to describe the gravity of this in Cleveland. Traffic was backed up to Akron this morning. That’s a completely different city! I’ve never heard of that in my life.

Most places either closed for the day or told their employees to “Work from home”, so yeah. No biggie in CLE today.

I’m at “work” today. I was on East 4th on Sunday night at the House of Blue Restaurant.. I will NEVER forget that experience. EVER. It was the best.

Congrats, I’m at work in Akron but I’m with you in spirit. Have a great day! Just remember Cleveland scored a Championship, Akron got the assist!
