They needed to dispose of it somehow and this method gives them free advertising.

Come on Nissan, we all love the boxy little thing. Just build it already.

Hey, remember that small RWD car the internet went apeshit over? Yeah, the one we didn’t build. Want to tease the kids again? No, we’re still not making it, but we can pretend it’s still an active project, right? Right? Surely someone who wants a small RWD car will consider the Altima.

I have to admit I was ambivalent on this car until I just now got another look at it. It really looks quite good, and probably still would after being distilled into production. Nissan will make the effing Murano CrossCab, but not this? What am I supposed to do, see this in the movie and run down to the Nissan dealer and lease an Altima?
What do you want Nissan, WHAT DO YOU WANT?! I’LL TELL YOU WHAT YOU WANT!! YOU WANT NOTHING!!!
And that ladies and gentlemen is what grinds my gears, back to you in the studio, cesariojpn.

Nowhere in here do I see a descriptor for a modern Datsun.

I dislike the trend of putting concept cars in movies.
You don’t gain any marketing momentum. Here’s a reenactment of the best case response to this sick, sick Nissan concept when someone sees it in the theatre:
“Whoa, sick car! What did you say it looks like? The old Skyline? What’s a Skyline?”
Again, best case scenario. Dude happens to be looking for a car and remembers the movie.
“Hey I’m looking for that new Skyline from the movie, that car is pretty sick. What’s a GT-R? It’s $130k? I’m looking for a Nissan, not a Porsh, help me out bro. Why they put that car in the movie if I can’t buy one? Alright, you said this one here is an Altima?”

Can you now look up definition of sarcasm?
As an example of a great modern Datsun, I present you with this:
Great things include
Having convertible
Having SUV
After purchasing this vehicle, drive directly to junk yard. Do not pass Go. Do not collect $200.

Wasn’t sure if you were one of those Z drivers who insisted on racing my BRZ at every stop light even though I’m not racing.
