that’s in danger of being lost to history?

Kinja'd!!!

The 929 is an absolutely glorious car. I owned a 1988, complete with digital dash. It did absolutely everything better than the dozens of vehicles owned since. It was rare then, almost non-existent now. Everyone knows the LS400 and Q45, few remember the 929. A great car that is nearing extinction, soon to be little more than a footnote, a low resolution bad angle pay here dealer photograph eight pages deep in a google image search.

Probably also the Mazda Millennia, Oldsmobile Aurora, and Hudson Jet.

The first-gen Subaru Legacy turbo. The Subaru rallying story really begins with this car - without it, we never would have had the WRX and Colin McRae’s balls-to-the-walls insanity.

The Y34 Infiniti M45. Some may not agree on its looks, but I think it is a cool design and had a V8. Shame it didn’t last very long.

To echo your 929, the Mazda 323 GTX is dying a slow death. 1,243 originally imported into North America, and less than half of those are probably still around. Doing my part to keep it alive.

The 70's and 80's Mazda lineup seems like a good answer. So much interesting and good selling cars

Because not a rallye car.

I know a guy who has owned three of them, and accumulated a total of over 400.000 miles with what he claims to be “no problems at all”. Glorious sounding five cylinder and Alfa V6 engines, some with turbos and LSD. Basically a more chill Alfa 164. Has ultra rare, hand-built Coupe version (just over 3,000 made between 1997-2000).

Not sure I’d classify that as a “great car”, even though I badly, badly want one.

The 3.0 DOHC was a good engine... and they made an SHO...

Otherwise, they can all die in a heap of rust.

Isuzu axiom. Sturdy, well rounded SUV with some neat features here and there. Too bad the frames rot out on them. Low production numbers don’t help either.

My first car. I loved that thing. I still do. Drives so nicely down the road if you aren’t in a hurry.
