Here’s my to-do list as it currently stands:
ENGINE:
Clean IACV
Clean MAF
Check for vacuum leaks
Seafoam oil/intake
Oil change to 5w30full synthetic
Check ignition timing
EXHAUST:
Put on new manifold gaskets
Leak test
Weld all of the leaks
BODY:
New hood
Assess damage to side skirts, find pictures of how they SHOULD look and start removing copious rust
Wire wheel surface rust/bubbling
Primer cleaned rust spots
Cut out any rust holes
More primer
Fiberglass or bondo now-rust-free holes
Repair split front bumper lower fascia
Repair split rear bumper lip
Replace all front door hinges
Replace leaky gas filler vent tube (pisses fuel out during accel, no bueno)
(Eventually) have car re-painted professionally black with metallic flake
Remove rear seat and fabricate a half cage with harness bar for eventual racing seat (far future, racing seat alone costs more than everything on this damn list)
SUSPENSION:
New front suspension strut mounts
Cut down ebay coil sleeves (temporary)
Replace springs with something reasonable (found some #220lb 2" lowering springs on ebay for $60, seems like a reasonable spring rate considering the #400 springs I’m running on the Miata)
Asses shocks, replace if needed (Rockauto sells adjustible struts that seem nice)
Remove power steering rack and properly de-power (someone in the past just took cutting dykes to the power steering hardlines and left it all dangling in the engine bay)
Paint calipers Brembo gold (with NISMO decals for good measure)
Ceramic brake pads
Wheel spacers in the back (??? the rear wheels seem to be staggered inward slightly, and a wider rear track might help handling some)
Poly sway bar bushings
Braided brake lines
Refinish OEM wheels
INTERIOR:
Eh, fuck it. Interior is fine. Might take the dashboard out and figure out why the blower motor doesn’t work and reupholster the cracked-to-hell dash bad.
Holy hell that’s a list.
