All the sourness against the Ford GT for winning because Ford spent lots of money and resources to develop the perfect car to beat Le Mans against an aging C7 and the 991. Also sour because they’re hyping up Ford winning 50 years after the GT40's first win even though we all know it’s highly unlikely a GT/roadcar-based racecar will never win Le Mans overall ever since Porsche-Toyota-Nissan-Merecedes GT1 war in the late 90s. Last win being the ‘98 GT1...which shares more with a 962 than a 911.

To be fair, Risi was gravely outnumbered after AF Corse lost both cars. They fought like mad and hung on to the Ford longer than any Ford fan anticipated.

Sure, they lost, but unlike the AF Corse ones, Risi raced till the end, still swinging and running.

On another note, it’s a damn shame Ford won’t let a customer use their car on GTE-Am next year. ‘68 and ‘69 were won by a privateer in an old GT40, after all. Worse still, a GT3-class version is next to impossible to create.

Good thing GT3 is more stacked than GTE, no?

Agreed on all points. Risi did a commendable job fighting to the bitter end with Ford for 1st. I don’t agree with Ford protesting Ferrari, apparently even Chip himself didn’t know about it until reports asked him.

I think Ford will change their minds about letting GTE-AM teams getting one or two of the GTs after their 2 years of service.

This is very true, and I’m an addict for Five Guys’ Cajun fries.

Oh believe me, if I am an ex-IMSA PC/DP team who has Le Mans aspirations and I get denied an old GT, I would fume internally.

And, I forgot: Frederic Sausset did well in this race. Gravely overlooked.

All of a sudden I want to see him team up with Alex Zanardi and another top-class differently-abled racer to challenge Le Mans and other endurance races as one team. It’ll be epic.
