Is there an adhesive that will effectively glue this back in place?

A quick fix would be some decent double sided tape along the inner edge.

Spray adhesive. Put it on light enough and it’ll stick it up without soaking into the fabric and drying into a hard dark spot on your ceiling.

if it wasnt something you cared terribly much for, i’d recomend thumb tacks.

Permatex sells a similar product, too. The hard part is applying it without overspray, especially at that awkward angle.

tape and paper sheets?

Yep. That’s really all you can do for the overspray, but that angle’s still a pain, especially when you’re trying to get a nice, thin, even coat.

Right product but go for the 90 (super strength) I used to work in a fabric store, the upholstery guys swore by the 90. Strangely 3m makes a spray that says headliner on the can.... Doesn't stick very well.

I used that 3m stuff to stick the fabric back on to the door panel on my wife’s old Honda - worked like a charm. Spray a little on both surfaces then stick’em together.

Drop the headliner. pull cheap material off. Get different cheap material. Apply spray adhesive to both headliner board and new cheap material - (Seriously, the 60" wide stuff is between $4-7 a yard and it takes about two yards to do most normal cars)

Well I did state decent, Gorilla double-sided tape is currently holding my foam air vent seals onto bare aluminium quite happily.

Well... Not having to go to Kragen/O’Reilly is worth something by itself. And I am hopeful that since we’re only dealing with the leading edge of the headliner, we’ll be successful.

“Over there?” That depends upon where you are. But to your question, yes. I’m in the vicinity of San Francisco, California, USA.

i’m down in San Antonio, Texas home of.........something or other.....
.......on the side of town i’m on, the guys working the counters are THE worst. either i know EXACTLY what im on after, or..... i go to the poor side of town, the places that have an in-house machine shop, and things get much better. its just THE drive over there.
....... every store needs to adopt its own geriatric.... the guy thats done it all...... if only he could remember what that was, or how he done it.....

Yeah. I have a parts guy I use. He was an independent business and now he works under a shop. I call him and he calls me back and where possible I take him a slice from Costco and he always gives me good consideration.

yeah, the best parts houses remember who YOU are....... every time that i go into those machine shops, and parts houses, they recognize me..... and like you said they are always willing to say..... “yeah, close enough”, on parts totals . its nice that they arent trying to wring every last dollar out of your wallet....
i go in, and see the longest line EVER........ but dropping off parts, and you ask “no rush, but so i know....how long?” and they will forever tell you “i think that we can have it out for you by the end of today” AND THEY DO....old shops are the best.
i always try to hit some sort of “car quest”..... especially if its in a small town.
