Today was a hoot. A real hoot. I’ve never had the opportunity to tune a car on a dyno until today and now I feel like I’m wasting my time tuning on the street. It was just so easy and I could even get into load cells of the maps that are typically not accessible while daily driving. It was a very interesting experience. FWIW I was able to crank out 227 WHP with my little 1.5L engine today. I’m certain I can hit my goal of 300 WHP at a later date but I had no way to increase boost past 12 psi and I also didn’t have extra spark plugs to read the heat straps with while increasing timing. C’est la vie. Another day.
But not tomorrow. Tomorrow is autocross day. Gotta get the Mustang ready for pylon shenanigans. Going to try out some stiffer springs in the rear to see if I can make this pig rotate a little more. WOO!!! WOOOOO!!!!

Dyno tuning is the way to go. also when people say they dont know how much their car makes i always call bs because your not going to upgrade and tune a high hp car without a dyno

What ecu system are you using?
That’s awesome power from a 1.5 at only 12 psi! What a sleeper. Cool car.

Awesome!
You have me scouring craigslist looking for Hondas now. I’ve always wanted one for stupid simple turbo goodness and shenanigans.

Well that’s not entirely true. For a while when I first put a different set of cams in my Mustang I had no idea what kind of power I was making. I just had a canned tune and no information to go off of until I got it on a dyno to see what was really going on. Some people will do just that though; bolt on some parts, get a canned tune, and call it a day. I could see those people not knowing what kind of power their engine is making or if it’s even really running efficiently and just running their car off of a one size fits all tune because it felt faster to them.

yea but usually you see it on cars that were N/A with a turbo and built motor and the owner says they dont know. Yea cause you do all that work and just guess on the tuning?

It’s called a P28 ECU. Basically it’s a stock Honda ECU that I put a daughter board in (Moates Demon) and I tune that through a program called Neptune RTP. It’s pretty intuitive, works without flaw, and I get to tune real time. Such a huge upgrade over what I use to do which was datalog and burn a new chip every time I wanted a new tune.

Get one!! It’s dumb cheap to get into a Honda, build it to handle power, and then give it said power. Wanna make it go around a corner? That’s cheap too! And it’s nice that I can daily this, still get 33 MPG, and make my passengers giggle in fear when this tin can spins up the turbo.
