10 minutes in to a double red cell draw, thus the heating blanket.

You never know who you might be saving. Especially if you have a desirable type.

Giving blood is one of those feel-good things I would like to do, but I know I would pass out while trying. Needles just chilling in my vein creep me out beyond belief.

I just found out I'm O- and need to know how to find out where to do it

The Red Cross has info on their site. There is also usually a statewide organization as well.

I would, but they won’t take my blood.

I’ve done double red before but never needed a blanket. Must be something new. Since I had a surgery recently, I have to wait another week or 2.

Then it’s time to donate some B+!!!

One of the easiest, best things you can do for your community.

It was actually your post a few days ago that inspired me to get off my ass and do it.

A- here, so apparently I'm desirable or something. My dad is O-, but for some reason tries to make constant excuses about donating (he's a diabetic, so it's not a fear of needles or blood).

Thanks I felt lightheaded after and they freaked out over that but it's a cool feeling to know I might save some lives by doing this

Yep, it’s also kind of a strange feeling knowing that a part of you is going to be inside some other person that you’ll likely never meet, hah.

Now here is the real question - did you look when they put the needle in, or did you look away? I usually look away for the initial insertion, but I have a strange enjoyment from seeing the flow starting.

I looked away for the insertion but watched it flow out with great interest

never done the “double” - that makes me squeemish.. But we regularly give at work. If there are several of us there we race. I had a sub 4 minute pint last year, (normally about 5 minutes.) Yay! I can bleed faster than all of you losers!
