No. This can’t be. I only just BARELY didn’t kill myself when he said “Yo congrats, dawg” at Monaco.

First of all, it’s fake.
Second of all, here’s a strangely convincing argument that this would actually be a good idea:

Shoot me now. Actually, I stopped watching the post-race interviews when they stopped having the press do them. These podium interviews are the worst.

As if Hamilton bringing him into the podium area and sharing his victory champagne with him at Monaco wasn’t bad enough...
If they’re trying to bring in a new demographic by Justin Bierber having a presence around the F1 scene, I’ve got bad news for them. 99.9999% of Beliebers will probably never watch an F1 race, and just about everyone else on Earth dislikes the guy.
If it is true, the child better at least dress in something that doesn’t make him look like a homeless hippie.

Yeah I rolled my eyes when I heard him say that. I was hoping Hammy would say, geeez man I talked to you once to be nice but get the fuck away from me!

That would have been better, but they come from the same spot celebrity-wise. Nicki Minaj is in there too... “Tattoos/Booty/Dawg/Etc”, whatever you want.
Ya know, dawg?

From the article:
Bieber is the second most followed person on Twitter, and inside the top 10 on fellow social sites Instagram and Facebook.... Each of those posts exposed F1 to a massive audience of tens of millions of people, all potential fans that currently may have entirely no idea of the sport’s existence.
I’m going to take a stab in the dark and guess that most Beliebers are incredibly unlikely to become F1 fans.
If you’re really trying to draw in a younger/different crowd, I’d think that perhaps another sports figure from the area might be a good choice. At least their fans will already have a somewhat common interest in organized competitive sports, and perhaps be exposed to one they never got much exposure to.
Now I am of course making some very large generalizations. I’m not saying that someone can’t like F1 and Bieber, or that none of Bieber’s fans are into sports. But from my understanding of the Bierber fan base, based largely off of first hand observations in life and stories in the media, I’m going to guess that it’s not a market with strong potential to draw in new viewers from.
I get the point behind the argument of having a major celebrity essentially being a brand ambassador to their millions of followers, I just don’t see Bieber as the right person. (And it’s not just because I generally dislike him)

Even if it’s true, I don’t care - I very rarely watch post-race ceremonies, and when I do it’s usually because I’m doing something else and it’s on in the background.

Yep. I like the article’s point that Bieber would be better than the standard interviewer. And I agree with your point that there are still even better options out there. If you’re going to pay for that kind of superstar, get someone like LeBron, especially with a Chinese following.

I really want Kimi on the podium just for the inevitable response to the first question he is asked. “Who the fuck are you? Shut up."

Martin Brundle did the one at Monaco, he asked good, tough but fair questions, it was quite good. I can only ever really stand those interviews when someone like him, DC or Webber do them.

I’m sure it was good interview, but I just don’t care for the new format. I know why they did it, though. I’m sure Biebs will be asking good, tough, but fair questions. Not. If Hammy wins, I imagine it might turn into a Lewis Lovefest.

I don’t think they’ll actually have him do the interviews as that tweet looks Photoshopped. I’m really hoping it is anyway.

Pretty sure the pic is legit. I watched the race, and Biebs was waiting for Lewis right outside parc ferme below the royal box after Monaco, and Lewis stopped to speak with him before he went to see Prince Albert. I think Lewis has his priorities backwards.

Oh I know the pic is legit, I watched the race too and facepalmed massively when I saw that little twat enter the frame. I don’t believe the tweet announcing he’s doing the interview this weekend in Canada is legit though, it looks cobbled together.
I could try to verify this by looking at his Twitter but I’m not about to search for it and later have Google recommend me all kinds of stuff I have no interest in seeing.

Well, the next race is in Canada, and the rumor (rumour?) is all over Google. It would surprise me if Bernie passed up a chance for higher ratings.

Ok, I just gave in and checked his Twitter (private browsing ftw) going back to Monaco and don’t see anything like the image in the post, thankfully. Let’s hope it stays a rumour (:D).
