Almost two years ago I !!!error: Indecipherable SUB-paragraph formatting!!! about my wedding ring. My fiancee had someone make it from race used carbon fiber from a Formula 1 car. The man who made it said the piece was from a Red Bull car, but that is as much as he knew.
The ring arrived yesterday along with some bits of the car that it was made from! The CF pieces all have serial numbers that begin with RB5, so I’m hoping that is the car that it’s from but I don’t really care.
My fiancee wont let me post pics of the ring until we’re married, but here are the other bits from the car. Not sure what I should do with them, thinking about making a sweet display box w my new table saw, and putting it with the pieces in it up in my office.

I can dig it, and that’s awesome! I have a CF and Ti wedding band myself (because performance).

I wanted a wedding band with carbon fiber in it but the jewelry store we bought it from didn’t have any. That said I love my band. It’s tungsten carbide with a single black Diamond in it

Fattest wedding ring I’ve ever seen!
I’m not sure how you are going to wear it.

That is so cool! I like the display box idea. It might make a neat contrast to combine with wedding mementos, like part of a center piece or an invitation or something.

Mine is CF and tungsten carbide. Cost all of $19 compared to the thousands for my wife’s.

Nice! We had a couple of different ideas. The guy said that he could CF/Ti style. Another option was to work in the platinum band that I was going to get originally to the CF. However I ended up opting for the full carbon fiber. It’s side cut so you can see all of the lines in the CF I can’t wait to post pics.

Yea my ring was a fraction of what I spent on her engagement ring. Engagement rings/wedding stuff in general is such a racket, but we do nice things for the people we love.

Nice! Well I will post pics of the ring and details of the guy who made it etc... Once were hitched.

Where did you order it??? I just popped the question this past Saturday and that is PERFECT for the ring I'd want my fiancée to get me.

Very cool. It’ll be a nice conversation piece! I like ones that are non traditional. Here’s mine. I catch myself playing with it a lot.

Mine was $85 at a major jewelry chain in 2013. I lost a bunch of wieght recently and had to replace it at a cost of $12 from Amazon. Identical ring AFAIK.

Same here. Thousands of bucks for hers (Pro Tip, if your lady likes clear stones look for White Sapphire instead of diamond. Bonus if you use the whole “Blood Diamonds” angle to justify it) and under a hundo for mine. Though the major outlets are jacking the prices up on those lately.
The only thing missing from mine to increase performance are racing stripes (yellow or red) or stickers.

Haha yea I went full retard on hers vvs1 and a designer ring lol.

Tungsten carbide is the best, I wear mine every day and not a single scratch, I’ve actually worn grooves on drill chucks with it haha.

I went platinum for the longevity factor, that was the crazy expensive part.

It’s definitely strong, but the resin on the carbon fiber part isn’t, and is scratched like nobody’s business. I might get it polished soon.

That’s why I didn’t get the carbon inlay, I knew I would scratch the hell out of it.
