I heard a squealing coming from the serpentine belt in my Town Car, so I opened the hood. I’ve kind of sort of forgotten to inspect the belt in a while, and it has more cracks than I would have thought possible without it breaking.

So I went to Ford Parts to get a new one and saw this. Now, I’m pretty sure that my car doesn’t have 4 drive belts. Also, the one that’s less than half the price of the others has to be a trap, right? Why the hell would Ford make so many OE belts?

For the record: I went with the one that Amazon had in stock.

Also, some shit about sandwiches.

Different positions or types of the alternator, A/C vs. no A/C - that alone could count for four variations.

The weird thing is that I think the 922-A is actually newer than the 923.

On the other hand, I shouldn’t be complaining about having four different OE options for a sixteen year old car.

Ugh. That’s a good point. Although their website seems to treat them as interchangeable. Well, let’s hope that the easiest to find is also the correct one.
