One central roundel is ok in my eyes...but having two duplicated roundels is like...ugh. But it’s fine, the car is incredible, the badges didn’t even cross my mind when we were WOT through a tunnel or three.

I happen to like that detail. They are weird, I admit that but they still look nice to me.

Funny - that’s exactly what I’ve always thought about the back of that car.

No source, but if I recall, it was designed in Italy and started life as an Italian project. BMW took over and wanted to make sure no one thought it was a Ferrari when it when by.

It was a BMW project, but they farmed out chassis and bodywork to Lambo(they also built the prototypes and were slated to build the production cars). Lambo went bankrupt after getting like 90% of the work done and BMW literally had to steal the mostly-finished cars out of a warehouse to get them back. They hired a group of ex-Lambo engineers to finish the job and built the cars themselves.
The design was cribbed from the BMW Turbo concept car , which also had dual rear badges.
