I’ve come around, early Countach is best Countach.

Okay, I’ve gotta admit... I just don’t get it. Why does everyone love that car? I know I generally have unusual taste in cars, but I can usually see something I like in popular cars, but those are just really ‘meh’, and always have been for me. I would put the attractiveness of that bodystyle right next to that of a CUV. What makes that era of supercars so popular?

On another note, that song reminds me of a band I recently discovered:

No unnecessary wings and cocaine. Just plain Countach

The wedge shape and the clean-cut lines.

How it was meant to be, the rear arch is just so clean.

Those clean and beautiful lines... Why did they put all those wings on it again?

I must say a lot of Lambos look better in their first version, a first gen Murcielago or Gallardo also looks great, and is way cleaner than the later facelifted ones, or should I say winglifted.

The tear-drop shaped wheel-well, that is the epitome of good design

I agree, I guess the times change but they don’t have a new model ready, so in comes the cocaine

The clean-cut lines I get, but the wedge-shape is pretty much all they make these days. The whole ‘high beltline’ fad has cursed us to all drive wedge-shaped cars within a few years. But I digress.

Have you ever seen Gandini designs up close?

That yellow one is the first Countach prototype. They added the famous NACA side scoops to that one too as they need more engine cooling. But it finally met its fate as it was crash tested. It had steel body and traditional chassis unlike the other Countachs that had aluminum body on a space frame made of vast number of steel tubes. Maybe they decide to change the chassis and body due to the crash test.

The second prototype resembled the production models more but it still had the two piece side windows instead of the normal three piece version. None of the production models share this detail. This car was first presented in red but Lamborghini guys came to their senses and gave it an awesome green paint afterwards. It is displayed in the factory museum.

This pretty green individual is the greatest Lamborghini ever made.

I haven’t. In fact, living in the sticks, I’ve seen very few supercars in person, and none up close. Perhaps that would make a difference.

I disagree. The first facelift of the Gallardo improved deeply the meh design, and it’s cleaner than the original. The same can be said about the 2007 update for the Murcielago.

Also, unpopular opinion: The 6.0 Diablo is better looking than the 90's Diablo.
