The Genesis R-Spec 5.0 from around 2013 has a silly narrow tire size with very few replacement options.

Kinja'd!!!

235/45R19 Not a lot of all season choices available from my local suppliers.... I wonder if I can talk my used car manager into upsizing them a bit....

However, it is a relatively inexpensive way to get to sixty in under five seconds.

235 isn’t that narrow by any reasonable standard. Only narrow for being a rubber band 19. I wonder if the brakes occasion a 19" wheel or if it’s just stupidity - it would probably drive more like it’s supposed to with a wheel swap to slightly smaller and a tire giving the same overall size and width, rather than an upsize.

Just checked - Carmax only wants $23K for a 2012 R 5.0 with 56,000 miles. That’s really fucking cheap for a sub-5 second 0-60 run!

Funny that bumping to 20" rims the tires drop $100/wheel.

Yeah, and they’re pretty fully loaded, too (usually). If you’re looking for a cheap luxury car, it’s a pretty good deal.

I’m just seeing an excuse to get inch wider wheels and a easier to find tire size

19's are probable the least common size other than maybe 21's or 23's (yes I’m looking at you Saleen F150)

whereas 20's are extremely common. It’s lot easier to find affordable rubber when every manufacturer makes it in your size.

Aware. Just that usually there is a 20"-tax as we used to call it where every tire goes up $100 for hitting that magic 2 at the start of your rim size.

On a car that big with that much power, 235 is pretty wimpy. I expected at LEAST a wider tire in the rear.

That used to be the case but now often times 20's and even 22's are surprisingly affordable. I’ve seen 305/40R22 Goodyears for $189/each new.

Loved that car when I test drove one...sadly far to rich for my blood. A well treated used one is on my radar. The Mazda Protege 5 I owned had a similar problem...few tire choices. Bigger PITA then you think, good luck!

Yes, it’s not all that big for a modern performance car with 19s, but by the standards of yesteryear, eh... A ‘70 big-block Corvette ran 215s from the factory, with something like 350 net hp and absurdipants torque.
