AHEM

Kinja'd!!!

But given those three, it’s Audi, Mercedes, and ...................................................................................................................................................................

BMW.

15 years ago I’d have said BMW, Audi, Mercedes. It’s all about long-term quality, which BMW has chosen to neglect entirely. It’s also what Mercedes-Benz did starting in about 1995 and only recently seems to be coming back from. Audis are not without issue, of course, but if I was going to buy a new high-end German car with my own money, it’d be an Audi S or RS.

What’s wrong with an A4 or A6? They’re practically the same thing! You do you, man, but I have never liked the A5. It looks like it desperately wants to be a 4 door.

Mercedes because way more of their cars actually appeal to me.

Audi has nothing that excites me other than maybe a A8L.

BMW the M5 and M6GC is the only ones I really like.

Mercedes on the other hand MANY of their cars I love.

-S63 Coupe

-s600 Maybach

-C63 coupe

-C63 Sedan

-E63 Wagon

-GL63 Suv

-GLE350D

-GLE63

-G63

-G63 6x6

and the list goes on.

I’m not a brand loyalist by any means but out of the 3 mercedes is for sure the one I’d pick.

!!! UNKNOWN CONTENT TYPE !!!

Mercedes started far ahead of the other two, it was the car to have.

Kinja'd!!!

Even when the opposition caught up they started to over-engineer cars like no tomorrow.

Kinja'd!!!

But eventually Daimler-Chrysler happened and there was a quality decline. The situation is improving buy they’re still not quite what they used to be in my opinion.

Kinja'd!!!

Audi started as several brands, all with interesting technology.

Kinja'd!!!

Once they did unite into Audi they produced some clever ideas like the Quattro - but as a luxury brand they lacked the identity of the other two.

Kinja'd!!!

Recently they’ve gained a stronger reputation ever since the R8 came along and the brand basically changed car design for the next decade, but now they’re getting a bit stale again.

Kinja'd!!!

BMW almost ended up bankrupt in the 50s for being too upmarket too soon.

Kinja'd!!!

But they gained a foothold with racing, and the 2000 series. In the 80s and 90s you had the E30 and the M cars. The whole brand defined cool.

Kinja'd!!!

But their direction in the 2000s, combined with the fact that they want to create a niché for everything these days has given them a bit of an identity crisis (M cars not withstanding).

Kinja'd!!!

Overall BMW is my favourite, followed by Mercedes and then Audi.

Kinja'd!!!

An incredibly important part of any modern luxury car

Kinja'd!!! Saracen > JR1
06/02/2016 at 19:44

Audi, because:

Audi doesn’t use horribly confusing nomenclature for their engine designations (example: BMW 230i, Mercedes C300, Audi A4 2.0T...)

Audi doesn’t sell one of those horrifying crossover coupe monstrosities.

Audi’s exterior and interior aesthetics are still superior to the weird BMW’s and melty Mercs.

Audi does not dilute their high performance RS brand by making RS versions of every vehicle they build every year (see: every Mercedes model), or slap it on cars that are not even built by quattro gmbh (M235i, C450 AMG)

Audi isn’t perfect...they have killed the wagon offerings in the US, and I lust after a BMW M2 with a manual gearbox (and the TT-RS and RS3 will be DSG only)...but Audi is still tops in my book.

Audi, because this glorious beast:

The RS7/A7 is one of my favorite luxury cars out, something about the proportions and that “kinda weird but in a way not really” rear-end just calls my name. That twin-turbo 4L V8 doesn’t hurt either.

Mercedes, ten years ago I’d say BMW but Mercedes has the most complete line up currently.

I can name at least 5 Benz currently on sale that I would buy if I could afford to, while I would only want an M2 and an M3.

Hell, I think MB even makes Porsche nervous right now.
