So below is the 2012 328i that I picked up back on the 23rd. I didn’t plan on getting one, but I had looked at them and spent some time researching them. What happened was, I spending time on Facebook Wednesday the 18th procrastinating on packing for the trip to Pensacola my girlfriend and I were going to be leaving on Monday the 23rd for.
I stumbled upon a post by an old family friend who was trying to sell his BMW. I asked him about it and he gave me fair bit lower price than he was giving other people. So I asked my father if he’d cosign for me since my credit history is pretty sad. I only have a year and a half or so of history since my parents had always told me to never get a credit card, but that is another time and place. My father asked what for and I showed him. He loved it; the car and the price!
Due to scheduling issues, I didn’t get to get the check from the bank and insurance sorted out until the Monday that my girlfriend and I planned on leaving. She was pretty aggravated, but mostly supportive because for the last two years she’s had to listen to me prattle on about how much I wanted to get a BMW. We finally left at 3pm Monday when we were hoping to get out by 9am, but I only spent 30 minutes in the DMV!
I spent a couple days over in Pensacola and then came back and immediately washed it. While I had always wanted a BMW, I thought people on the internet were always exaggerating about how well they drive and how nice the interior is. I couldn’t have been more wrong. It’s scary how confidence inspiring this car handles.
Anyway, on to the pictures! First image is the Bimmer in question, and the rest are of my old car, a 2010 Scion tC. What an upgrade, right?
This is it when I was pretty low on some crappy Function and Form Type IIs. BBS reps too. Hate me.
This is the most recent picture of it. I took off the coilovers in preparation of selling it and put the stock suspension on.
No worries Opponaughts, I have no plans on dropping the 328i like I did my tC.

Congrats - looks like you’ve got the sport package on that model. Have fun with it!

Sport line, but not the M-Sport package. Has the upgraded headlights (adaptive lamps and xenons), black headliner (not sure if this was a standalone option or included in the Sport line), BMW Connectivity package, and the HUD. The HUD is awesome. I thought it would be gimmicky, but it isn’t.
Thanks!

Congrats, man! I’ve gotten to drive a 328i sport line a fair bit when our X3 has gone in for service. That car is a good deal of fun, and I must say yours looks great in white. Enjoy it!

The ones I kept building over and over again on BMWUSA were Estoril blue and Melbourne red, but at the price w/ the options I really wanted, I couldn’t turn away just because it wasn’t my first (or second) choice in color.
Tons of people will always say 328 owners should’ve gotten a 335, but my previous car being a tC with a whopping 140whp, I feel like I’m in a rocket ship when I’m in sport mode and I hit the gas pedal.

You’re just a Burger JB4 away from 335i power levels.

It is certainly no slouch. Doesn’t feel like a 4cyl.

Today I’m driving my tC halfway to meet a guy that wants to buy it. It’s going to suck.
I’m going to miss that car though. Learned how to really work on vehicles with it. Never before did I think I’d be able to swap suspension out on a vehicle or install my own headunit, amp/subs, and 4channel amp and door speakers.

Awesome car. Last year I convinced my dad to pick up a 2011 CPO 328xi. So far it has been the most reliable thing he has ever owned. It also is excellent to drive like you say.

Well done! Congrats on the new Whip!
I went from a neon (SRT-4, but still) to a 3 series, so I know the feeling. They are great all-around cars, in my opinion.

Looks good, have you considered some black wheels on it?

I don’t like white cars with black wheels, honestly. I’d like to get some polished aluminum wheels or something down the line.

I drove a Ford 500 yesterday. I learned changing the Taurus name wasn’t why people didn’t buy it. It was awful.

I didn’t plan on getting one
That’s exactly what I said when I impulse-bought an E39 540i a couple years ago. My heart loved it, my wallet did not.
Hope yours works out well for you!!

Congrats. Keep us updated on how the ownership experience goes. I’ve read a couple things about how the earlier 4cyl had a few issues. Hoping you have a positive experience.

I’ve never understood the attraction of black wheels. At all. Full stop.

I’m worried after having 2, it’s gonna be hard to go back to anything else.

Does paying membership dues to the BMWCCA have any actual good benefits? Saw some discounts listed, but wasn’t sure if any actually helped.

There were some that had an issue with braking, but I checked the manufacture date on the VIN and mine is in the clear. It also has no open recalls according to BMW’s site so hopefully I’m in the clear.

Well, I all but have the check for my tC now.
And I got to the end of my driveway and hit the gas to enter the highway and...... I think I might have fallen asleep with how gentle the acceleration was in my tC compared the the 328. Well, until I heard all the road noise, that is.

I think some dealers offer 15% off of parts and labor, that alone would have covered my membership cost, if I had known about it. There’s some other benefits, but I’m not sure, it’s worth checking out.

Ooooh. I'll have to check with my local dealers. My brake fluid change is this month.
