I know you're out there. Do you use your personal vehicle or a company vehicle when visiting job sites?

My dad is Contractor. His truck is his personal/work vehicle. It is nowhere near work spec, it is lux spec.

My neighbor, a cabling contractor, uses her Hyundai SantaFe with company stickers on it.

My wife works on the other side as a construction coordinator/owners rep. She drives her own car, but gets mileage. Nobody at her company gets a corporate car or allowance. Just mileage.

Not a general contractor really, but I’d use our company vehicles if I was at corporate. It's hit or miss at this location because our vehicle is older and more likely to spontaneously self-destruct.

Do what you want but assuming that your firm is a subchapter s corp, and you are an employee, you should be able to use your personal vehicle and have the corp reimburse you the IRS mileage comp for the miles. Also then the corp can deduct the cost of the mileage. Not a bad way to go.

Whichever is at my disposal. If I have a job to see over 30 minutes away I take invariably take the car, it at least has a working heater and a radio, but either vehicle’s journey is tax deductible.

My dad uses a company van but that’s only because the company pays for everything for the van.

Yup. Deduction. I think this year it's $0.54/mile
