No wonder you Oppos recommended this car! It will fulfill all of my needs! Not sure how it will handle paved, winding, fast-paced mountain road cornering, but overall, I thoroughly enjoyed the car! I will be on the lookout for the Legacy Outback or Legacy GT that I want. Thanks for recommending this car, even though I didn’t want it at first, and I’ll keep you all posted when the right one comes up!

Buy a Legacy if you want better handling, and buy an Outback if you need the ground clearance.

I prefer the standard Legacy. I find the outback version to be very soft and floaty. My dad just got a 1996 legacy wagon with AWD. It is wonderful.

They actually handle bthe Twisties rather decently. Though the Outbacks came with bigger, higher profile 15" tires and higher ride height than the Legacy GT’s of that generation which had 55 series 16" tires. I would recommend one of those over this if you are looking for the versatility with better handling.

I’ll go Legacy, but I need a wagon. I’d prefer GT wagon.

Got it. Yeah, their Boxers kind of go through head gaskets a lot.

Also his is the 2.2L which is apparently a much better engine than the 2.5L. Shit our 2013 2.5L leaked oil until they fixed it.

Yup his had the 2.5, It was just marking it’s territory in the garage. My mom’s 2001 Silhouette also leaked oil all over the same garage. So when I changed oil and made a mess, it didn’t look so bad. I don’t think the RDX or the 135is leaks oil, so I think the garage might be safe now.

The 2.2L and 3.0L H6 are fairly immune. If I were to buy another Subaru of that era I’d look at one of those.

My buddy had(s) a 2005 Outback XT with 113k or 130k miles. Engine just exploded on him. I guess you are after the older, non turbo Legacy GT, so just worry about head gaskets:)

If I had 10k, sure. I’m still waiting for my $3,200 check from school reimbursement.
