We finally got in a Canyon Duramax. I physically laughed at the cute little engine, then laughed harder at the sticker price. When a Canyon comes within $20k of a 2016 GMC Sierra 3500 Duramax Denali ($68k), there is something wrong with truck prices.

The fact that it’s within $6k of a loaded Silverado 1500 LTZ is a problem too.

Trucks have gotten crazy exensive

- Loaded truck vs loaded truck.

- Why does the window sticker say 3.6?

- HOW DOES IT FEEL TO DRIVE?????

3.6 is the standard engine, the 2.8 diesel is listed under optional equipment.

Yep. If the robot setup, inventory, employee benefits, employee time, and manufacturing process costs are the same as the big truck and just dealing in smaller pieces, the difference in materials cost makes no sense whatsoever to scale the price point by. 2/3 of the materials with 90-100% of all other costs just isn’t going to sell at 2/3 the price and still make bank. Heck, the big truck might make up all its materials costs in one step - two fewer months on the lot and those related costs.

I went to my local Chevy/GMC dealer and was not impressed with the Colorado/Canyon. I felt for the price, the interiors were not even close to being worth paying that much

Oh god no, I mean maybe somewhere around $35, bur once you break $40 there isn’t a redeeming factor in that interior.

Pretty much. A ~$5k discount for the little truck over a comparable 1500 sounds about right. $22k off from a 3500 diesel doesn’t sound too far off either.

It’s no different comparing the cars on offer at a Chevy dealership. Not much price difference to move up to a larger size, with similar options.
