Kinja'd!!!

Something happened. 200 Series Land Cruiser on fantastic TRD wheels for your time.

Over the weekend, one of my best friend’s brothers sadly passed away. As one would expect, she is taking it very deeply and is in a bad way. In an attempt to cheer her up, we brought her Taco Bell, candy, Dr. Pepper (her favorite beverage), stuffed animals, and flowers.

Her brother was only 23, and struggled with addiction throughout his later years. He was a real joy to talk to, along with a caring heart. He also had this bangin’ 199-something Cadillac Deville with the Northstar, and one mirror being held on by galaxy style duct tape, and the other mirror missing.

His funeral is on Friday, and The Gang and I are skipping school to go. It’s worth it.

I’m just concerned for my friend, as she is one of the most positive and inspiring people I have ever met, but her well-being has made an obvious turn southward. I have reassured her that all will be well, and that she must stay strong.

Losing someone sucks. Nobody deserves it. It isn’t fair.

Thank you for letting me just share this little shred of my current state, back to the regularlyrics scheduled programming.

Losing someone is never easy. It’s too bad nobody sat down and helped him out. Maybe next time. Let her know that it’s more than okay to grieve. Let her know how good of a person she is. Let her know that her brother wanted her to do her best and be happy. Let her know that she matters. Let her know that you and the gang are with her every step of the way. And never let her give up.

One of my best friends in 8th grade lost his mother to a tragic accident. The best thing you can possibly do is to just be there to listen, talk, or just be. Sounds like you’re doing a great job.

Also, there is absolutely no shame in seeking professional help in the form of therapy or grief counseling. Maybe not your place to suggest, depends on how close you are with her, but just throwing it out there. My condolences on your and her loss.

Right after I got out of highschool, a classmate of mine overdosed, and it was one of the saddest, most wretched things. It was devastating for his sister who had been worried about his issues and well being for a while. Most of his “friends” didn’t come to the funeral because they didn’t want to feel guilty for whatever complicity they had in his death. The whole thing was so depressing it still hurts a bit thinking about it. But his sister moved on, and though I’m sure she is still hurt, it didn’t stop her from graduating college, getting married, etc. People will keep going. And I think you’re doing good to go. I feel worse for not having been able to go to the funerals of my friends.

“Cardinal crashed into my window, I think he might die

I’ll plan him a funeral, I’ll read his last rites

Cause I know what he saw in that reflection of light

On the glass was a better life”

Don’t give me these feels, dammit!

Ouch. Same age as my brother was when he took his own life. It's really hard to deal with for a while, but eventually things turn around. Not sure there really is any good advice, aside from simply being there for them.

The Wonder Years produces 100% pure feels. The lines “And all the kids names I’ve ever liked recited tragedy. Well, I don’t want my children growing up to be anything like me.” in Passing Through A Screen Door are just another example.

Life sucks sometimes. But it gets better if you give it time. And the good parts are totally worth it. It’s tragic when people leave us at a young age, but the rest of us can keep on living and enjoy life for ourselves and for the memories of those we’ve lost.

One of my best friends from middle school died of cancer our senior year of high school. We weren’t that close in high school, but it still hurts to this day when I think about it. We left him an open chair at graduation and his sister accepted his diploma for him. Really we were only super close for a couple years, but I think he had a bigger effect on who I am even today than a lot of people I’ve known for much much longer. That and memories of the fun we had, who he was, start to cancel out the sadness after a while.

I’m sorry for your loss.

Thank you, but it’s a part of life I guess. All will be well for my friend.

I will, I will and I will. She truly is a great person, as was her brother, and she just has to remember that because it will keep her going.

Powerful song as well.

I’m really sorry to hear that, loss is not fair. I just gotta remind my friend that everything will be OK.

I was dating this girl in high school when her older brother killed himself...rough times, it really changed her but she bounced back eventually. Just stick around and lend an ear/shoulder.
