I just got the ESPN update about him winning. Major props to the kid especially being his first race in the big boy car. I’m sure red bull are kicking themselves for not bringing him up sooner

Yeah, I know, I avoid Jalopnik when I have a race taped, I guess I’ll have to add Oppo to the list, not that it’s a big surprise. Just seemed a bit unnecessary to include it in the headline, since those who want to share your joy about it already would know, and if they didn’t yet, they’d be annoyed. I’m on the West Coast so I don’t watch these until a couple hours after the East Coast crowd. I’m not a huge F1 fan but I do like to have the outcome something of a surprise, and this was a pretty big one. I had to send NY Times breaking news updates to my spam years ago when it insisted that who wins every Olympic event is breaking news that must be e-mailed out. So if we’re attacked by aliens, I’ll be the last to know.

He won because Merc self destructed and then RBR made the wrong call for the lead RBR driver. Props for him doing a good job but it was down to circumstances, Danny was ahead on merit and lost due to the pitwall decision.
