The engine from this:
Into this...
I mean...think about it! The penultimate in French technology meets the penultimate in Polish-Italian technology! Plus, they are both air-cooled 2-cylinders...different shapes, sure (I2 vs. Flat-2), but how hard would it be, I wonder? :O
These are questions mankind has been dying to answer....somebody needs to enlighten our race in the next Lemons Series...

How about keep the air cooled 2cyl, but put some silly bike motor in it that revs to the moon and makes no torque? At the very least it would sound cool.

Why not a rotary

Because that has already been done a million times to the 126p, as has V8 engine swaps.....Lemons is all about engine swaps that are pointless and ill-advised. :P

Because Lemons thrives on random engine swaps that make no sense....VW diesel-swapped Porsche 911? Sure! Russian radial aircraft-engine swapped Toyota MR2? Why not!
Random stuff needs to be done for Reasons (Trademark), not just for silly things like actual performance! :P

But a rotary would be pretty silly. How about a big 2-stroke outboard motor?

now this idea I like. find an old 150+ hp outboard with a symetrical lower unit bolt pattern, take it off, flip it around and have the propshaft drive a transaxle like a subaru or VW. Throw it on the back of something malaise. Win. You would need to figure out alternative exhaust routing and build a cooling system with a low pressure high volume feeder pump to compliment the built in pump, but otherwise I don’t see why it wouldn’t work.

You’ll get through BS inspections, but you’ll never see the checkered

I’d take an engine from a 2001 Chevrolet Malibu and put it in the 2CV.

Because the idea is that the car will run for 24 hours straight.

This is the genius-ist thing I have ever heard...why somebody hasn’t done the outboard idea yet is beyond me! :O

I wouldn’t see why not! The 2CV engines were tested by Citroen for 100s of hours at a time at full throttle....they may not be fast, but they would get you anywhere! :)

If you ask me, the real accomplishment would be sticking the engine from a maluch into a X1/9, thus creating your own mid-engined Polski Fiat. I mean:
+
= Awesome
right?
Extremely high-quality mspaint rending of finished Polski X1/9:

This...this is a good plan....OR.......or....the 126 engines are small, why not mount TWO in an X1/9? :O
