This was mine :)

Kinja'd!!!

They are GREAT cars! And they happen to do pretty well in the snow :)

If anything the chassis is a bit on the “chewing gum” side of things... Still a pretty damn great car

I like these a lot. Would make a big statement in Australia :)

Cheap and nice! But auto and probably not a targa :(

I remember reading this a while back. Wasn’t really interested in C4s at the time, but the styling has grown on me over the last couple of years.

I still really want a BRZ, but I might end up in a 92-96 Corvette instead.

As far as I know, all C4 Corvettes were targas (excepting convertibles of course).

The C5 was dad’s. The C1 and C4 were mine.

Back when two car payments were no sweat and I was living on ramen.

You know, maybe it's because I was a teenager during this time, but the later C4 is a fantastic looking car to me. If someone were to give me a choice between C4, C5, C6 & C7, I'd pick the C4. Even though the more modern models have a superior powerplant.

Trust me, the LT1/LT4 (not even talking about the LT5) Corvettes are much, MUCH more fun on a daily basis than a FRS :)

I miss mine dearly... I’d love to get a C5 as a replacement though...

I know they’re completely different animals. It seems like the Corvette’s power might be a bit overkill for daily driving, though. And the gas mileage of the BRZ would be nice.

Nope many were regular top...

Kinja'd!!!

Regular top corvette are actually quite a bit nicer... Without its roof the targa models have chassis that REALLY transform themselves into chewing gum and with the top on, it squeeks constantly. I had a targa top one, but you could see through, so it compensated :)

Gas mileage of the C4 is actually really good! On freeways, in 6th at 100kph I was reaching 29/30mpg! In the city it’s quite a bit worse, but you could cruise in 6th at 50kph and still have enough torque to move around.

5th or 6th gear at 50-60kph were my downtown cruise controls :)

No need to touch the gas pedal, it would stay at those speeds steadily just idling. Small uphill would be no problem at all, thansk to all that low end torque. Truly awesome car.

You have a source for that? Because everything I’ve ever read about C4 Vettes says they’re all targas.

Well, look at the picture of the one I’ve posted with my comment :)

It’s not a targa top.

Targa top were a huge majority, but quite a few had regular tops. I recall looking for one when shopping for my Lt1, but it was WAY too far for me to pick it up or even look at it...

As a kid, the C3 was my favorite and I thought the C4 was the ugly duckling of the Corvette lineage. But in the last couple of years, my opinion on that has changed. The C3 isn’t as bad as the C5, but I find it rather garish now, whereas I think the C4 is a slick-looking sports car.

If I had the choice between a C4, 5, 6, or 7 (price being no consideration), I’d take the C6, though. That’s my favorite.

The angle is too extreme to tell on that photo.

According to these guys , all C4 coupes are targas. Which agrees with every other source I’ve found.

Hum, that’s pretty weird as I’m 100% sure that I saw a couple at local meets in the past... + that one for sale a few years ago. Maybe custom made? That seems tough to do...

Sorry, but that’s a negative. All coupe C4s are targa tops. The next time a hardtop Corvette came around was in 1999 when the FRC came out.

But are custom fixed top a common thing?? I’m 100% of seeing at least two in the past and I even tried to buy one 5 years ago... All were LT1s

Kinja'd!!! Tuned-Port-Injected-Rage > Flavien Vidal
05/13/2016 at 08:30

Nope, I’ve never seen or heard of that before. Unless you were looking at convertibles with an add-on hardtop.

Kinja'd!!!0

Nah, these are easily noticeable... Truly strange... Both cars were in Seattle at the time and the car I wanted to buy was in London, Ontario... :(

I thought maybe there was a club of people too annoyed by the noisy targa to actually convert theres into fixed top lol

That is wierd as hell. I’ve never, ever heard of that before. I’m 100% sure they are all targas. Unless someone hacked one up to be a hardtop?

Nah hard top are very different, Both cars were together and had a typical coupe glass rear window

Truth. There were no fixed roof C4 Corvettes produced for purchase. I have long wished they were because they’re beautiful, but noodles. Neautiful?

I want one...

Word!!! I had my Camaro through 6 or 7 PA winters and it was definitely doable. The one year I had studded snows it was unstoppable. I’d look for hills to climb for fun.

Really strange. The site says it’s an ‘84.

It has an ‘85 to ‘89 engine, ‘84 or ‘85 climate controls, ‘86 or ‘87 wheels, an ‘84 or ‘85 hatch, ‘84 to ‘89 interior, and ‘85 to ‘89 dash. A real mishmash if it’s an ‘84. I’m going with 1985 car with ‘86 or ‘87 wheels.
