What do you think about the sixth gen?

My first car was a 97 Acura 3.0 CL which is basically a rebodied Honda Accord Coupe, it was a great car. It was decently quick, handled well, and was super reliable. I think the Honda looks a lot better than the Acura though.

My mother-in-law had a 2001 v6, she called it Skippy, she liked the v6 growl.. lol
They bought it on the coast in 2006 and had it in PG for awhile. It was really nice inside, leather heated interior, memory seats, super fancy wood panels..
In 2010 they spun into oncoming traffic in a snowstorm on a highway in northern Alberta. They head-on-ed a sunfire and everyone survived.
I would say it was a good car. They replaced it with a Pilot.

I agree with mkbruin. The V6 (which only comes with an auto on this gen) feels nice, but they’re horribly unreliable. Case in point, my BIL’s ‘99 V6 Accord shitting the bucket at 121,000 miles.
Get a 7th gen. Far more refined, more reliable, better engine, and the V6 can be had with either a 5 or 6-speed manual. I also think they look better (though I might be biased).

He’s apparently too busy shitposting.
I love them. I’ve driven several and I especially like the 5-speed/4-cyl combo, but the auto isn’t bad. Handle and ride well. Still looks great inside and out after all this time, and seem to be very reliable. Sold a crap ton of them so if it does break down parts are cheap.
I test drove a dark green over tan ‘98 manual EX sedan in ‘06 and bought a ‘93 ES300 instead that turned out to be problematic. Wish I had bought that Accord.

I’m looking at a sixth gen I4 Coupe. Although the V6 7th gen is a really good car, it’s a bit out of my price bracket.

I’m actually trading my truck for one that needs some A/C work.

You could look for an Acura TL/CL from the early ‘00's. Basically an Accord in a tux, but if you can find one, they came with a manual/V6 option.

I like em, just watch out for the head gaskets on the 6 cyl J-motors

The RL is wearing cashmere that will spontaneously combust.

...that can’t decide if it wants to burn your hands or kill all the electrics inside the car when the one touch driver’s door handle shorts out.

This generation. Electrical gremlins galore. I think you’re talking about the precious gen, the more squared off one. If so, those are reliable as any car Honda ever made.

Autocorrect on the ipotato strikes again, that was supposed to say “previous gen” not “precious gen.”
But yes, I agree with you that your generation RL is solid. I don’t see many of them, but when they do come in, it’s always for routine maintenance because they just don’t break.
