My countrymen have done it before. It worked like a charm. All we need to do now is to convince even just three mods to be one of us, and we can overthrow BrtStlnd and his front Benjamin Rolland* from power peacefully.

An Arab Spring-style revolution is nice on paper, but look at where it took them.

Now let’s fins an immense interchange with multiple raised roadways and let’s revolt, baby!!!

*Oh, you didn’t know? That election and Benjamin Rolland is just some bloke Brt paid to win the elections by rigging it. Then Brt will just kill Rolland dead, incite a rebellion, and rise to power again.

Ugh. This is the kind of bullshit that turns Oppo into Venezuela. Look at how far they’re fucked . I consider my country well-screwed, and even that is still BBB in Standard and Poor’s and you don’t really feel the fucking unless you’re poor.

That would have been really interesting to watch had there been subtitles.

In other news, WTF is going on over there? Duterte? Really?

Tell me about it!

as if politics back home wasnt embarrassing enough with out cute words like “lobbying” to cover up the bribery and corruption back home, now we get the guy from davao with deathsquads and no mouth filter...

The shit he said about the australian missionary is the kinda thing you say around only your homeboys at your house watching a basketball game after drinking way too many beers... NOT SOMETHING ANYONE SAYS PUBLICLY...

If my family didnt own land back home, id give up my citizenship to the motherland... I still might if this nutjob does anything drastic.

Electing him is akin to erasing all of the progress which has been made economically.

Quite frankly, I do not know why the country voted for independence (from the US), but I am biased.

it really wasnt any better under the US, who turned a blind eye to what marcos did in exchange for a military presence in asia to combat Communism...

Reagan and Marcos were both former actors and now presidents, that connection helped them become friends.

If the us had made us a territory like Samoa, Puerto Rico, or even annex us into statehood like hawaii, we would have all the burdens that come with being a US citizen and US state, with out any of the benefits...

Again, I am biased because I was born on the island of Guam, which is an American territory. Yes, voting rights are stymied for us Guamanians, but you can come to stateside and vote.

As for the US military receiving aid from Marcos, that would be an internal issue of the Philippines. The US received what they perceived they needed and turned a blind eye, true. But what exactly should have the US done if their wants were being fulfilled? Filipinos voted for independence; relying on foreign powers destroys any claims to sovereignty.

It was the assassination of Benigno Acquino in 1983 which changed the cozy relationship between the two countries. Rebel helicopters were allowed to refuel at Clark. The US military passed along information about Marcos. In the end, advisors (SOS Shultz) had to persuade Reagan to drop him.

My main point about remaining under the US banner is this:

Just being able to come to the contiguous 48 states is a fantastic opportunity.

yea, but living here sucks...

its nice to come here for a vacation, but when you live here for so long, you get to experience all the fun racism and discrimination from people way less educated because they think we live in huts and trees and talk to us like we dont learn english in school...

any country where socialism exists.

In all seriousness, canada is the most cost effective and requires less studying (language)

but my ideal is to move to Finnland. But im still trying to see how hard it is to learn the language.

Taiwan and Japan also look really good, and it would be slightly easier for me to learn the language.

Finland is cold, so very cold.

Canada is a good bet.

No idea about Taiwan, but the Japanese probably don’t think highly of Filipinos. As I understand it, the average Japanese person knows banannas come from the Philippines. That, and although polite, you will have a tough time “integrating” into the society. Plus, Filipino women have the stigma of being a prostitute over there, so there’s that.

So maybe Canada it is!

No one in asia really does think Highly of filipino’s because most OFWs are in the domestic help sector.

In Taiwan the are called “marias”... in Korea and Hong Kong, Sundays are for some reason, the days all the filipino domestic workers gather and socialize.

Most filipinos (men anyway) in Japan are assumed to be there because of the US military.

Id like to go to Taiwan or Japan, if i could be an english teacher and get away with just learning to converse, and not read LOL
