1984 528e. The open road... er hay field. I was 16 and felt like a king.
Not pictured: terminal undercarriage rust that had the car undriveable after 1.5 years of owning it. Still, best $200 I’ve spent on a car. This was my introduction to RWD driving as well as the first car I ever wrenched on... and somehow this is the only picture I have of it. I just found it at the bottom of an old box of stuff. Can anyone guess the year? Hint: it may be newer then you think.

Judging from the NY plate with what looks to be a D as the first letter, we’re looking at around 2005-2006

Your photo was taken in 2005?
I think a theme day is in order. Bet you can’t guess the year on this one!

You guys are good! 2005 right on the money. I figured the license plate would be the giveaway but didn’t know it was that easy to read

Hmm... I can’t read the license plate or figure out what state it’s from. The Z looks nice. Unless it’s new in the picture I guess I’ll maybe go mid 80's from the shoes/socks? Maybe ‘86? I’m bad at this...

Nice! I had the winter package with the optional LSD (not that I knew what that was at the time). It was really good at getting sideways and eating the rear tires in parking lots. I miss that car! Then I took a turn and have had mostly subarus since

Im pretty sure those plates only started with A-E so D was a fairly safe bet

Mine eventually died kicking and screaming at 416,000+ miles on the ticker. Clean and slow as fuck lol :]
Winter pretty much doesn’t exist here. I’ve yet to see snow in my whole life. Subies exist here but not to their full potential. Well, maybe at the beach.
Following the e34 was a $600 e36 sedan, e36 M3 coupe, Audi A6 avant quattro (c5), ‘09 Silverado, W210 E320, another W210 E320, ML320, currently a XC90 and Z4 aka full circle

Yeah without winter that makes a lot of sense.... Every time I get a new car I think about going back to a BMW, especially something in the 3 series line. 416k is great! I got rid of the 528e at 315k and the 535i at 286k, aka just getting broken in.

Cool! I would have been 3 then, so my memory of the time period is fuzzy at best...
