I have no specifics on a Jeep, but I have to assume either collapsed mounting points of body bushings or both. I’ve seen this on a mid-80s Suburban.

Same thing happened to my TJ. Track bar sheared off of rear axle.

Last I checked your car was derived from a Daimler-era design.

SHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!! Quiet you. lol

I try to forget that often. It amazes me to no end how it hasn’t rusted yet. It seems there was more Mercedes influence on smarts than Chrysler...but I still fear the rust.

ETA: I’m only concerned about rust because I live in Illinois...non-rusted Chryslers from that area are few and far in between. Same with Mazdas, sadly. :’(

In fact the smart brand wasn’t launched by Mercedes but by Daimler itself.

Such is correct. Although it became a subsidiary of Mercedes-Benz after smart’s liquidation in 2006.

Fun fact, a small percentage of 2008 US spec smart fortwos have a door sticker that says “DaimlerChrysler” because they were built in 2007.
