And I was rather impressed! AMA

Kinja'd!!!

Kinda like this one, but with more bubbles in the hood.

It’s my friend/roommate’s, it was a 4 cylinder with an auto, it has 205k miles. I drove it for about an hour on the highway. Everything worked and the steering was tighter than the TA’s.

Bonus fact: it’ll carry 8' pipes with the trunk pass-through open. Another guy dubbed it “Accord Truck” for the feat (he drives a diesel F-250).

I like the way the indicator stalk feels and sounds on those. Very mechanical and satisfying.

I drove my BIL’s ‘99 V6 sedan one time. Tight as a drum, smooth engine.

No clue, it shifted pretty nicely though. It did seem like new motor mounts might do it good.

I’ve carried 8' 2x4s in my 7th gen Accord Coupe. Does it qualify for truck status?

The seventh-gen is not nearly as fun.

I was surprised by how tight it was mechanically. I went WOT (super short pedal travel) to pass a semi and it didn’t kick down or scream, it just sped up. Compared to my other roommate’s Taurus this seemed factory fresh.

Much business

I went to Walmart to buy a chalk line and WD40.

Si senor, it too can Accord Truck. Although the pipes weighed 150lbs apiece.

I haven’t driven one, so I’ll reserve judgement. I do like the 7th gen coupes, because of Forza 1.

Awesome car! Honda makes great cars, except the V6 automatics haha

I’m not ready to buy another car yet, but the 6th Accord is one the few non-Toyotas I’d consider. Although I do like the 7th gen better because of the timing chain instead of a belt.

Seems nicer than a comparably era Camry.

Yeah, but at least the Camry’s engines were non-interference back then! And even though transverse V6's are stupid, at least you could get a V6 manual Camry ;)

But I do like this generation Accord better than the Camry generation due to the seeming nicer, and also better aftermarket suppot

A friend has one and she’d like to upgrade, but hers just won't die. I'm sorely tempted to make her an offer except that's a vehicle that I really can't find a good excuse to buy.

Can confirm, is very nice . I’ve been driving mine for about 16 years and it’s never given me any trouble .

I recall the automatic wasn’t exactly great when (allegedly) hooning about in private plots of dirt...

Exactly, I don’t really want it, but I’m kinda surprised at how it’s held up.

The pedal had a weird dead zone at the beginning of the travel, then kinda went all at once.

I was impressed, I just assumed a car with this many miles would’ve been pretty loose/junk.

It refuses to hold a gear from launch. In gear acceleration at about 65 plus is pretty decent though.

Mine generally doesn’t kick down, so passing is a bit of a chore. The S600 on the other hand...

Pretty sure the S600 can just phase through anything in front of it shorter than a semi.

That is exactly the car my folks had for years - even the same color. It’s good - but honestly the early 90's coupe is even better, less weight, better seats and the same awesome motor and 5spd. Not super fast but a very fun, efficient car.

The last one to have that sweet design paradigm from the 80s Accords. I borrowed my friend’s V6 sedan a few times. It was a long time ago and my standards are probably different, but I remember it as being very nice inside, and fast as hell. If I needed a reliable beater, this is the first place I’d look.

Not going to lie, I always liked the styling of the 6th gen Accords, especially the coupe style. They looked classically aggressive and slightly more modern than a Legend, which I also very much like.

And i’m not even a JDMbro
