I’m sure there’re a whole lot of tributes today to the late great Formula 1 driver, Ayrton Senna - my feed is pretty jammed. I came across one that shows a side to the man other than stoic racer-staring or racer-philosophizing you usually get.

And the great thing is that it - aside from the overalls - has nothing to do with Formula 1 at all!

This is from the May, 2014 edition of !!!error: Indecipherable SUB-paragraph formatting!!! by Steve Bennett.

There are are some great moments captured of Senna weaving through traffic, dinner with the family, and of course, getting a feel for a variety of 80's rally cars.

“And then through came Senna in a glorious slide, laughing his head off and making a gesture with his hand that suggested we both enjoyed sex of a singular nature.”

I wonder how he would’ve done at rally: those that don’t specialize in it seem to have a hard time even if they have strong skills in F1, like Kubica or Raikkonen.

As much as I like F1, the more I watch WRC the more I believe that its the most difficult category of racing. On the other hand, I wouldn’t expect top rally drivers to perform at the podium level in F1, but these days one is still a lot more forgiving than the other if you make a mistake.

I wish there were end-of-season exhibition events for F1 drivers (and for other series) where they could have a one-off event in rallying, oval racing, touring cars, etc. It wouldn’t mean anything for the championship, but what driver wouldn’t want bragging rights?

Race Of Champions is supposed to be more or less what you’re talking about, but it’s not quite the same.

I wish Race of Champions was more than scooting around in an arena but oh well. A better mix of cars and terrain would be pretty entertaining.
