"Dr. Zoidberg - RIP Oppo" (thetomselleck)
05/01/2016 at 01:23 • Filed to: Celica, Oil change | 5 | 20 |
I’ve driven a few hundred miles now, and since I have no idea when the previous owner last changed this, it was certainly time.
Basically, and without surprise, it is the exact same as !!!error: Indecipherable SUB-paragraph formatting!!! You don’t need to jack up the car, and the filter is accessible from the top!
Check out that ground clearance. Beer bottle to scale.
All and all this took me maybe 15 minutes, and that with photos and beer-sipping.
As I look under the hood, I’m seeing full fluid resoviors, clean parts, and everything’s exactly where it should be. I think I really lucked out with this car. I love this thing.
Goodnight.

I’m surprised you didn’t change it when you first got the car. I wouldn’t trust the previous owner to have changed it recently at all.
Of course I have my oil change light on, so maybe I’m just projecting my own laziness (I’m going to try to take it in Monday: “Tomorrow tomorrow, not today, that’s what all the lazy people say...”)

It’s typically the first thing I do, but I wanted to drive it for a little bit and see if it would explode, no sense in wasting 30 bucks on a ticking time bomb :D

I'll give him the benefit of the doubt. These hatches rust bad. Just like a Tercel hatch of the same year. And a pickup bed of the same year. And... so on.

Looks like you have some seepage from the pan gasket

Looks like your wheels need a bit of work.

Lots of things need work. Very little will get done.

I once had a Chevy Cavalier that leaked in so many places you would think it was a British car....

I had a Tercel where I actually brought cardboard with me wherever I went to put under when parked.

The Celica has the same powerplant as the truck, right? 22R?

Wheels are pretty easy. Just get a nice steel brush and some brake cleaner. You don’t even have to paint them. I think they’d look nice in bare steel.

There’s something about the word ‘seepage’
