RBR have revealed their concept for improving head protection for the drivers. The team will be running it during FP1 at this weekend’s Russian GP. Thoughts?

Personally, I think it looks alright. I think it could be better integrated into the design of the car to look a bit cleaner at the transition to the tub but this is obviously due to grafting this concept onto a car not designed for it.

I look forward to the drivers opinions on visibility (the angled screen could distort their view) and how it affect ingress and egress.

Ugh just think what will happen if windscreens filter down to road cars. It will be chaos!

I think it looks much better than Ferrari's version. The Ferrari version looked like shit.

Next they will want these stupid fabric band thingys, they are called ‘Seat Belt’ I think. God, whatever next. Id much rather be flung from my car in the event of an accident....

/sarcasm.

Where’s the Youtube footage of them shooting wheels at this thing?

I like it, especially compared to the Ferrari Halo concept, but I’m curious what’ll happen when it gets dirty. It might hard to pull a tear-0ff cleanly from the cockpit side, and it’d be a shame if they had to pit for a windscreen clean.

I think that’s a fantastic solution and it looks pretty good too.

I think I agree with Lewis Hamilton on this

They should either accept the risk and leave it open or fully commit to driver safety and go to a fully closed cockpit.

Angled and curved, possibly thick material, you get my point. It may distort their view a bit and I want to hear the drivers’ thoughts on it. Well played though.

I like it, though I’d be worried slightly about ability to get out if a car’s stuck upside-down.

Likewise. The same problem exists with the halo concept. I wonder if they could make either/both detachable, or at least hinged. It probably needs to be removable similar to how the seats is in the even they need to extract that with the driver still in it.

Yeah, maybe they already thought of this, but some emergency quick release latches on that thing would go a long way
