Kinja'd!!!

It’s that time of year, full of stress and glee. Finals, fear of failing finals, and the joy of summer have come.

The small amount of oppos who read my antics might have heard that I have been gifted a 99 Jeep GC with the I6 and 4WD. It had been left in my grandfathers yard after he and my uncle couldn’t figure out why it wouldn’t start one day. Come three years later and I find that the sunroof wasn’t closed all the way and it had become a Mildewy swamp. My uncle about to junk it, got a call from me when the jeep came up (we always talk about our cars) he commented how he wanted to get rid of it and my joking of him donating it to me turned into how I became the owner of a rolling swamp Jeep...

The other catch was that it didn’t run and it wasn’t the battery or the typical Mopar S.K.I.M. We were stumped so I had it dragged home.

What took it off the road was a blown PCM fuse. The dealer couldn’t figure it out when they plugged it to a scan tool and charged me $55 for their lack of diagnostic. I was playing around saw a blown fuse and then the rest is history.

Pics are coming in a future post.

Just rip all the carpet out and bedliner it. You will never get the smell out otherwise. It’ll probably stay in the seats but you can throw in some junkyard seats with a better bolster.

I already replaced the driver seat and it’s so much nicer to sit in then the front passenger. and I considered taking the carpet out. to air dry it... it’s such a nice carpet though.

Bedlining sounds like a interesting idea

A jeep thats been rode hard and put away wet(literally) deserves the off road treatment. Also, if you get it muddy you can make it so you can just wash it out. I’m more of a rock guy but if you’re from the South like me or anywhere they like to just drive through mud, you’ll appreciate it.

Noted, I’ll definitely consider it, especially since there seems to be no rust.

Bed-liner the inside and out in that case haha. Keep it in one piece.

Cheap Jeeps are the best Jeeps. I have a couple, including a 2000 WJ that’s pretty fugly but runs like a champ. Same engine as yours, too.

Like the other comment said, pull that carpet and kill it with fire. Same for the padding under it. If it stayed wet for long, then it’s beyond saving and every time it gets hot in there you’ll smell like a swamp that died in a bigger, smellier swamp. I’d spray the metal floor with Rino Liner or something similarly textured and put down carpeted floor mats. Pull the mats out when you want to get it dirty and hose it out when you’re done! A few of my friends have done that with their old trucks and it actually looks pretty good and functions perfectly.

Old Jeeps are best Jeeps. Cheap fixes are best fixes.

I’ve been watching a WJ ad, keeps coming back up $100 less every couple months. Guy’s selling it for parts with the reason that it’s from out of province and getting it inspected is “too much BS”. It looks decent in the photos, but it’s so cheap I’m sure it would have sold if there wasn’t some serious failing. I’m tempted to call the guy up but I really don’t need a third vehicle... I’m down from four last month, cause my landlords were getting a little, uh, concerned.
