I recently had some time in Germany and was close enough to the Green Hell to pay it a visit. It fulfilled a lifelong dream to see and drive the track. The facility is incredibly cool, in a surreal German no speed limit autobahn sort of way. The fact that this track exists and is open to anyone that wants drive anything on it, is bizarre.

The day I went was not very crowded. There was easy parking right by the entrance with lots of interesting German hardware present. The usual suspects were there - various Porsches and BMWs and a few high-end Audis (RS5 Avant... wow). Surprisingly to me, there were a few Corvettes including a new Z06. And I got passed by a Challenger SRT of all things! I was driving a rental A3, manual, so I got passed by everything.

I went there last year just to watch some of the cars on a day off we had (3 week work trip to Germany). I have never seen so many porsches, bmws in my life. And the GT3 RS is one of the fastest and angriest sounding cars I’ve ever seen go by.

How’d your laps go?

I always love going to the Nurburgring. I usually go during the truck grand Prix. Watching semi trucks race is very unique

Awesome! I was there 2 weeks ago to pop my Nordschleife cherry. How’d you find it? My first lap was mostly stress and dont crash, enjoyed the second run much more.

Jelly. Was over there 2 years ago and wanted to drive the Ring, but didn’t fit into the rest of our schedule. Next time for sure.

Laps were great fun! My rental was slow, but was a manual, and it was just incredible to be on that track.

Yes, that about sums it up. It is such a long track, each turn was an adventure wondering how sharp it turns!

Yes, and there were TWO Cayman GT4s, and a GT3RS.
