Still in the middle of it because of the time it takes to remove the intake, and I broke one of the coolant hoses attached to it.I’m replacing it with Victor Reinz gaskets (the set also includes new grommets and spark plug tube seals a); in this case it’s reboxed OEM and made in Japan. At least two of the old spark plug seals were leaking, too (previous owner used shitty aftermarket seals that were of a different design than OEM and had springs in them) and did a poor job overall (a couple bolts in the back were already missing, no throttle body or EGR gaskets, either).

But the engine looks good for 260k! The first two pics are the front head; the rest are of the back head.

Doing the valve cover gaskets on my SHO sure was a chore too. That beautiful intake makes it a bit of pain to get at anything on the engine.

My next car will be a 4-cylinder Toyota, so I won’t have to do this shit again

That does look really clean.

On my 3rd gen Prelude I changed the valve cover gasket about a month ago. It wasn’t quite that clean.

Not bad for being a 25-year-old engine that is known for having oil consumption issues, though.

Yeah I was surprised for sure! I was expecting it to look more like yours

Mine was much less of a chore to do, from what it looks like. The B21's engine bay is way more cramped than an H-series, but still nothing compared to a transverse V6.

Hahaha. The gaskets on the Olds were much easier.

I’m daily driving G Body Man’s old ‘84 Cutlass. Just painted the rally wheels on Tuesday.

Nice car! Glad you included the pic since Olds called everything Cutlass back then :p

Ahem. It’s a 1984 Oldsmobile Cutlass Supreme Brougham Sedan. Body by Fisher.
