Disappointing news coming in from Denver today. I will be posting my Bavaria up for sale this weekend after a much needed detail. I have some pictures of it in dirty form so I will share those here. If any of you local opponauts are looking for a somewhat running and driving classic (1972!) BMW project, here’s your chance! Disclaimer: it runs and drives about as good as it looks from 10 feet - it gets hot, has an exhaust leak, brakes and clutch are spongy (they share the same fluid) and the shocks are original from what I can tell. Wiring is dodgy, the drivers windows is busted and there are some spots of rust which I will show below and the seats are from an e30 m3. I have a ton of parts including all of the originals plus some bits and bobs picked up from some donors.

Car was repainted cheaply a long time ago - originally a beige as you will see in the door jams and engine bay

Those are the 4 worst rust spots and you can see the original color and the QUALITY of the respray!

So there it is, not pretty but I want to be honest. I’m gonna give it a good clean up and wash today and post it up on the local forums and craigslist. Let me know what you guys think! I don’t think it will take a huge sum of money to get this car sorted so I was looking for somewhere around $3000

I’d snatch that up if I still lived in Denver. Just 1 year too late. Nice to see someone actually taking detailed pictures of the flaws too

Thanks, yeah it was quite the basket case when I bought it - I’ve done what I can in a years time but I’m relocating to California and I want to send it off to a good home.

(Googles Bavaria, being new to it)

Finds that it’s a 2500 with a 2800 engine and unique to America.

Yep - For the 1972 model year, the 2500 was dropped while the M30 engine size in the Bavaria was increased to 3.0 liters.

I see where you are coming from! It is a stout project - If you don’t mind the looks, it putts around without any issues. This is something you could drive around and work on over time - things it absolutely needs are the driver’s window and some front brake pads. It can be driven and enjoyed while the kiddos chip in haha
