I just read that Porsche does not offer a heads up display on any of their vehicles - is that true?
I don’t actually care, but am in the middle of a project.
Auto OEMs are NOTORIOUS for just omitting anything they may not have that competitors do have. It’s also significantly harder googling to confirm something DOESN’T exist than googling to confirm something DOES exist.
Any Porsche NA or dealer guys/gals care to comment?

They offer lots of vague statements about “heritage” and optional leather a/c vents.

screw HUDs - give me a decent gauge package. I’ll check how fast I’m going when I glance at the tach while I’m shifting.

LOL - thus my disbelief.
“Hmm, what else could we charge an extra $5,000 for?”
How did NO ONE raise their hand, look like a genius, and throw that out there?

I spend a significant time on their configurators and I just spent the better part of yesterday reading all about the porsche exclusive customization options and never saw it anywhere. so i’m gonna go ahead and say they don’t.

Thank you for saving me the time.
You have no idea how much time I’ve blown looking for needles in haystacks.
What’s the screen resolution? Is it even a touchscreen? If so, resistive or capacitive?
I’ve had to ig deep in my google-fu and watch countless videos to figure this stuff out.
For 22 cars. I’m just tying up loose ends, and I’m going cross-eyed.
So an Oppo break, and a little help at the same time.
Thanks!

I’m going to go out on a limb here and say that a speedometer heads up would be anathema to the p driving experience.
Now, I’ve never been behind the wheel of a panamera, but every 911 ever produced has a big tach, front and center in the instrument cluster. Engine stats and performance are the keys, your actual speed is secondary. Putting in a hud with speed would be against all of that. Replicating the tach in digital numbers would likely create some incongruency in your comprehension of what’s going on. A green-yellow-red display like the bmws in m mode seems a bit redundant, as the actual tach is literally immediately below in your line of sight—maybe 1-2 degrees of visual field.
Also, proving a negative is always a difficult, if not impossible, exercise.
Anyway, just my thoughts.
(The 928 has twin gauges side by side a la bmw, but the 928 is much less of a sports car)

All good points.
I’ve wished for a speedo in line of sight for help figuring out vmax on track without missing my braking markers, but only because I was trying to figure out how far up to go with a new diff.
Under normal circumstances neither I nor anyone else would care, and is likely (as you’ve stated) why Porsche has avoided them.

well it’s frameless now, lots more colours in the updated gui, supports apple car play and android whatever, senses when your hand is near it, google maps from audi is the default gps system, it’s bigger. I believe it’s capacitive. I’m not sure what the resolution is. Also, voice control is now standard. it’s pretty too!

I hate HUD’s. They are so gimmicky and distracting.

i bet there’s an app for that.
if you don’t want to mount a phone on your windshield (would that even be allowed on track?) i’m sure there’s apps that could record your stats during a lap.

Yes - several.
I am actually doing a research project - just needed to confirm it’s NOT offered from the factory.
As I stated above, it’s much more time consuming to confirm something isn’t available than to confirm it is available.
