Edit: Some context would probably help. I have to be in NYC that Monday morning for work. As a result, I can get my company to reimburse me for the cost of the flight from MSP to JFK which using our company booking system and deadlines would be a $500-$700 reimbursement. So realistically, I can fly there and back for around $1000.

I imagine it’s better viewing it from the comfort of your own home versus going there. You can go to the bathroom whenever you want to, you can eat whatever you want, and you don’t have to deal with a bunch of other people. Plus, it’s a whole hell of a lot cheaper.
That’s just my opinion though, and I may be a bit biased since auto racing holds no allure to me whatsoever.

Look into flying Iceland Air they saved us $300 - $400 when we went to Germany over Christmas/New Years.
Edit: per person

Check your local used cars. If there’s nothing there you want for $1500, the Car Gods have smiled and you may go. If there is a car you want, the Car Gods have also smiled for you have a new car.

My understanding is that finding somewhere to stay anywhere near the course is tricky, but that would be a pretty epic experience. I’d be inclined to hit up some other European racing destinations while I was there if it were me (‘ring rental, anyone?) or just spend a few days in Paris.
Clearly, we need advice from someone who has actually been to the race itself. Stef went last year, didn’t she? Start posting Porsches and puffalumps, see if we can get her attention.

I’m a pretty loyal Delta flyer due to all the miles/status I built up with them and the old North West.

Haha. I pack light so that might be pretty tough.

Same here (recently bought 2 tickets MSP to SFO in June with Delta miles), but when we are paying for 4 tickets to Europe I will take that $300 per person discount any day of the week and twice on Sundays.

You could try tweeting at her - I don’t know if she actually looked at the thread so much as tweeted back with a frenzy of capslock. :)
For my own part, round trip for $1k, travelling solo and packing light? Sounds full of win. Go forth, see mad crazy prototypes and GT cars, and come back and tell us about it.
