The General Services Administration (GSA) has many functions for the US government. One of my favorites is disposing of unneeded stuff. This includes trucks and cars, an occasional Space Shuttle tire, and today, jet engines. Oh, the things I could do with that. PW300A turbo fan. Used on a number of corporate jets. Gsaauctions.com has two examples for sale with lots of green time remaining.

Considered that. What is really, truely, frightening, is that I know people who have the know how, tools and equipment to make it run.

You can do anything if you want to bad enough.

I know you know people. Doooo iiiiiiitttt.....
Either that, or make one hell of a snow blower out of it. It could come in handy if you ever move to a colder place.

My Corvair would be perfect. No electronic systems, power steering, or power brakes to worry about. Trying to keep from moving with 7.5" drums may be sketchy though.

I have seen footage of a guy with a PT6 mounted in the back of his pickup.

My brother is an engineer at Pratt. I’m trying to convince him he needs this

Do they have any turboshafts? I’ve been wanting to add one to a Racecar...

No, not in the traditional sense. There is an accessory drive, but that is only intended for pumps and generators. You you need to find a turboprop engine or an engine from an APU for that.

He needs it.
Does your brother work on the commercial or military side?

Oh, I know. I meant does that website happen to have a turboshaft engine, like what would go on a helicopter or APU. An Allison 250 would be perfect.

Not right now, but weird crap shows up all the time. They do have some entire helicopters though.

Bit of both. He worked on a component for the F-35 earlier, now he's doing the next engine for the A320

Ah, he’s on the geared turbo fan? There is a good chance I will get to be familiar with those. I actually saw one in Germany a couple of weeks ago.
