Looking at the pic....appears it would be good for straight line speed? And nothing else?

Yeah I think it’s to help drag starts.

It's interesting because you obviously couldn't get the front wheel off the ground, which is nice, but there's also no weight over the rear wheel. So I guess you'd just have to keep it slow from 0-5 and ensure there's traction. Can't dump the clutch, so to speak.

It’s a picture of a motorcycle in jpeg format, more or less one megapixel - but that’s not important right now.

Well I’m not really sure what dumping a clutch on a motorcycle is like but maybe it doesn’t alter the f/r weight distribution too much/significantly?

Back when the dinosaurs ruled (ok-maybe 20 years ago) the big thing for dragbikes was to get away from running a fabricated chassis with a slick and wheelie bar-to “street bike” racing. Stock frame cradle-strapped down front end + long swingarm became the “in” thing. Crazy fast at the top level. We’re talking over 200mph in the 1/4 mile. Of course not all racing was done on the strip. The look made it way to the street riders.
So this is a Hayabusa with a strapped front and an “Outlaw” swing arm-maybe 14" over. Probably never raced.
And they get plenty of traction + the power to lift the front.

Well, in the first photo, it is a Civic. In the second, an ATS, unless you were referring to the C6 or the Buick.
