I have a feeling that the handicap plate may have something to do with this...either way, I don’t think the blades are a smart solution to whatever problem he needed to solve.

How do you get a handicap plate on a motorcycle? I could see a trike being ok, but not a two wheeler. Maybe he has prosthetic legs, so they just stick out instead of tucking in properly so he put wheels on them to keep from dragging?

That’s got to make shifting tricky.

How does a handicap motorcycle plate even exist? I mean, I’m not in favor of discriminating unnecessarily, but doesn’t a physical handicap kind of preclude you from motorcycle riding?

not as tricky as some things I’ve seen folks do on roller blades...

I knew a guy who had a handicap plate because of his brain damage.

Outriggers. And the handicapped plate. People just have no shame anymore. This is enough to make people pull on a fedora and complain about friend zoning and nice guys.
Where is this guy? Please don’t say Denver. Which f’ing police department hasn’t ticketed his license out of existence by now?
Were you tempted to ask him “really?” in the same manner I said it to a woman I saw smoking a cigarette at the gas pump, because, well, both she and he were endangering their lives and others’ lives?

not as much as you’d think, missing legs can be dealt with relatively easily with some special equipment

Edited: Huh, I did some Googling...apparently it’s easier to modify a motorcycle for disability use than a car. TIL!

I can’t imagine a situation where these roller blades would help ANYTHING. But it makes for amusing internet dialog, so +1 random bike dude.

There are plenty of hip and knee problems that only act up when walking. There’s also folks that get them for stuff like incontinence where they have sufficient mobility but need to be able to quickly get to a toilet. Then there’s stuff like sun alergies. Oh, and fun stuff like sickle cell anemia that leaves you mostly fine but can lead to bouts of full body pain. And there’s vasovagel syncope with a pronounced prodrome where you start slightly light headed and will be fine if you can go prone within 10-15 minutes but will collapse and pass out if you can’t.
Basically lots of ways.

Depends on the handicap and how it impacts a person’s motor function and ability to operate a machine. A handicap doesn’t preclude a person from living a normal life. Nor are all handicaps visible ones.
I know quite a few veterans with DV (disabled vet) plates who have no visible physical handicap and would probably be more than ok on a bike. My mom, on the other hand, is partially handicapped in a way that affects her sense of balance. She’s fine sitting in the driver’s seat of a vehicle, but she wouldn’t be able to handle even a bicycle anymore, much less a motorcycle (if she even knew how to ride to begin with, that is).

Yeah, I guess was thinking more of the latter type that would affect motor function, balance, etc. Plenty of conditions that would leave those intact.

Okay so I’ve really wanted to do this on like a 50cc scooter for a long time......in a parking lot.....as a comedy race....Because it would be hilarious.
But nope! People do this on real bikes. And what is that I see? Of COURSE! OF. FUCKING. COURSE. There would be a hayabusa involved in this. one of the fastest motorcycles ever made. And now I lose all faith in humanity......

My cousin has actually met the guy. He has a hip problem from an accident and it’s easier to blade around than walk. Note the handicapped plate as well. It has to do with a limited range of motion.

Maybe he can’t physically support the bike at stops or low speeds and the roller blades help that? No idea.
