Frankly, the sales figures I’ve found indicate that it wouldn’t be common to see one of these cars anywhere in the U.S. But here in Nebraska, we have !!!error: Indecipherable SUB-paragraph formatting!!! you’d think wouldn’t be found in such a farm-centric state. Thus, here sits an Audi A3 e-tron. Yup, with this A3 you can make jokes about it being a golf cart as well as a Golf, because it’s a plug-in hybrid. Still, something about this car is very cool and appealing to me. For those who think the i3 is just too “out there, this may be your solution. It’s also the only way you can get the current A3 in the U.S. as a hatchback.

I wonder if this could be imported on basis of similar cars

I have no clue, but as far as I know the same rules apply if you want to import a car from Mexico. You’ll have to wait 25 years.

I know Mr. Musk has addressed this with the remodeled Tesla Type S, but why the phony grill?

This car is a plug-in hybrid, it still has a gas engine.

Kinja'd!!! BmanUltima's car still hasn't been fixed yet, he'll get on it tomorrow, honest. > Cherry_man1

Nope. It’s a different unibody construction. You’ll still have to wait 25 years. Same goes for Canadian market only vehicles.

That would cost money.

Also it might cause the gas engine to overheat.

It’s a Hybrid. There’s still a gas motor.

You could look at it as a golf cart, or you could look at it as the practical version of this:

That and the RS3, the A-Class and of course the A45 AMG, plus don’t forget about the 1 Series and M135i which are awesome.

For anyone curious, this is the same drivetrain found in the Golf GTE outside the US.

I am mad at BMW for not offering a single manual on anything but a 120i hatch.

Tell you what, you can actually special order them manual, you can actually do quite a lot in terms of special orders, but you probably would better have a good relation with your dealer.

I have a friend that ordered his 135si manual, when it was no longer in the catalogue.

You can still get manual on the M135 and M235 though, within the normal catalogue.

This is good to know. Where was the dealership he bought it from?

He probably got it from either Hamburgo in Interlomas in Mexico DF (which doesn’t exist anymore, it’s now Autobahn) or Munchen Motors in Santa Fe, that dealer actually got the only Frozen Gray M3 Coupe in the country and also I think the only Frozen Black M3, also some very limited run or one-off special Minis.

Mexico DOES get cool stuff, you just have to ask for it.

Very nicely.

Nah I know a couple of assholes that get very special treatment because they have big pockets.

Also in my experience, specially with premium brands, if you are willing to buy and they need to sweeten the deal for you to get the car they will.

I remember once I went to look at the new Minis and the dealer was willing to throw in special rims on top of actually going all the way to the European stock of cars to get me a BRG car.

I had a rather different experience when getting my Golf. I had to beg for them to find a red one.

After 3 calls to Puebla, they found one in the “back corner” of the plant.

Well fuck, but you’re in Tamaulipas, right?

Up north everything is just so much harder to get done when you stumble upon sales people that are cynical in that sense.

Over here we can have our pick of Dealers, so the sales people tend to be a lot more accomodating, with the knowledge that you can almost cross the street (figuratively) and talk to someone else who may be more “flexible”.

(¿Porque nos estamos molestando en hablar en ingles? Creo que solo tu y yo estamos leyendo esto jajajaja)
