!!!error: Indecipherable SUB-paragraph formatting!!! is what I’ve been dealing with this whole trip. And if you watch the back of the truck in front of this courteous professional driver at the end, you can see that he does hit me with his high beams. He sure showed me.
On a happier note, tomorrow I’m going to the Indy Motor Speedway, my first Tesla dealer, and also some school called “Butler”, where I presume they teach you to bring things to British aristocrats.

Ugh. Like the highway version of taxi drivers when it comes to entitled behavior.

Taxis: “I’m just going to put on my flashers and stop right in front of you if that’s ok.”
Trucks: “I’m just going to skip using my blinker and pull out right in front of you if that’s ok.”

Trucks on I-40 East between Nashville and Knoxville are the worst things ever.

Ironic given that I’m actually in a Bimmer. With very bright high beams as it turns out.

Taxis: “Now I see this entire street has no stopping signs on one side, so 436 of us are going to park there like 2 feet from the curb, but it’s cool cuz our hazards are on”
Trucks: “The light is red, yes, but I’m just gonna go anyways instead of waiting for the green light”
Those may have been pretty specific to where I work....

There is an intersection on my way home that truckers routinely run. I’ve seen them start moving as early as when the opposing lights turn yellow.

Dickwads like these make me hate traffic, near me they’ll take their sweet time to pass the other truck, causing some traffic behind them.

You’re right, he totally should’ve run over that car that was hitting brakes to exit.

It was an SRX, they just came out with a replacement anyway. Nothing of value lost.

That happened to us more times than I care to count, but I’m not including the video clips because they would be extremely boring.

Ever driven I-40 in Arkansas? It's exponentially worse.

Sorry, sm70, but I fail to see what was so horrible about that. Sure, he should have used his blinker. But there was room, he moved over, he didn’t cut you off, and after he cleared the exit he moved back over. All you did was provoke him by hitting your brights. You may have lost about 15 seconds of your travel time. Remember, it takes those trucks a heck of a lot longer to get up to speed—and stop—than you. I would cut him some slack, slow down a tad, then speed back up. But that’s just me.
I know trucks can be a nuisance at times (try a driving this same interstate in AR, or I-40), but if we all take a deep breath, and exercise a little patience, we’ll all get where we’re going safely. Stay safe, my brother.

Totally get where you’re coming from. I had been driving all day, dealing with trucks holding up traffic with annoying frequency, so I was being impatient. The only thing I will say is that the fisheye lens makes things look much further than they are. But yeah if my patience levels were at the height they normally are I might’ve let it slide.

I think they’ve changed this, but the speed limit in AR used to be 65 for cars and 60 for trucks. You’d get a truck pull into the left lane going 61, and it would take five minutes for him to clear the truck he was passing, while a mile of cars queued up behind him. It was terrible. But if the state troopers weren’t such dicks in AR, it wouldn’t have been such a problem.

Yeah, part of the problem was caused by the driver prematurely slowing down before getting in the exit lane.

Add to that the fact that many big corporate trucks are governed (we spent 5 min waiting for a Fedex double to complete a pass) and yeah, it can take a while.
