I recently realized I live in a pretty Jalop neighborhood. Just on my block there is a clean Ur-Quattro, a nice E36 M3, a guy with an air-cooled Beetle and an older Ferrari something-or-other (always under a tarp, can’t quite tell what it is), a fifth-gen Celica, a Mini S that pops and farts, a couple of old American land yachts, a nice 60s Pontiac GTO, a 90s Firebird in the middle of a restoration, and my 944. I have met almost none of these people but I see some pretty cool cars drive past my house on a regular basis.

On top of that, there are a bunch of motorcycle riders on the block as well, and a few of your standard “teens sorta into cars” with loud Focuses, Civics, and what-have-you. My neighbors didn’t pitch a fit when I cut up a scrap car in my driveway (twice) and don’t really seem to care about all the loud noises, sparks, and toxic fumes that come out of my garage on a regular basis.

I’d say my neighborhood is probably about a 7 out of 10 on the Jalop scale. How about the rest of you?

There’s a Skyline, but that’s about it.

EDIT: It’s better than that. Just remembered there’s a Chevelle, Nova and Cutlass (at least I think it’s a Cutlass) all from the late 60's, and a Roadmaster Estate GS.

On my street it’s a pretty barren wasteland. Me, my dad, and my dick of a neighbor own the only manuals (Si, XB, Stang GT). Within a few blocks of me though there is a S2k, Suzuki Kizashi, EP3, 64 Mustang, BMW 2002, Challenger R/T, and a 640i GC

Most of my neighborhood is retirees. They are big fans of crossovers. So not very. One retired guy has an H2. One of the middle aged dudes has a bro-jeep. One family has two mustangs and an old 12 valve cummins ram with a 5 speed. So meh.

Someone on my road commutes on nice summer days on a 3-cylinder Triumph from the 70s. There’s a brown air-cooled Porsche 911 Targa down the road from me as well but my prior neighborhood was far more Jalop. Like early 80s Renault Alliance and Dodge Colts still running, and a Dino 308GT4, and a red Intrepid on Cragar D-window steelies with yellow letter tires. The fact that the Intrepid was still running was a miracle.

There’s really only two car guys in my entire neighborhood... Me with my GTO, and there’s a guy around the block with a 2012 SRT Charger and a lifted Chevy 1500. Other than that, it’s a sea of Toyota and BMW.

Though, there is a Model S, 5.0 Mustang GT ‘Vert and a 911 Carrera 2S in the next subdivision over, so I’ll give it a 3/10

Early/mid 90's F350, lifted a little but not a ton, used every day, long box, crew/ext cab iirc, power stroke. And of course, mine.

There is one guy who owns a loaded Outback (the 3.6R) and a F-Type R; I live several floors above the parking garage entrance but you can tell when this thing is leaving or returning.

Other than that, there are a couple of Focus STs and a decent amount of motorcycles (the guy that owns the Outback and F-Type also seems to have a couple of motorcycles, one of which appears to be a Triumph). Basically, one guy in my building owns a whole bunch of motor vehicles that I want.

Mine was pretty Jalop until recently but still isn’t too bad. My street used to have an S13 and an early Mustang but they’re both gone now. There’s an E36 down the street, an early Fox Mustang in the garage across the street from me, and my 3 Preludes. Part-time visitors include a 996 Turbo and a rotating cast of cars owned by various twentysomething douchebros. Cars on other streets include a Smart that was a taxi for years, my dad’s Prelude, an early Camaro, and a guy with a C4 Corvette and a restored 1940s Ford. Someone in his family (I think his grandson, who’s a mid-level NASCAR driver) also has a pretty new S65 AMG. In years past there was an FC RX7, a 1st generation SHO, another Prelude, and an S2K, among other things.

There’s a street in another neighborhood in my city that has a Mariner Blue Miata, a 944, and 2 K-cars within a 5-house stretch.

Besides my weird ass house with 68 Montego and a lifted Jeep Commander? Let’s take a tour.

Across the street is a 74 Vette.

Down 2 from that house is a 60's Mustang.

Across from the Mustang is possibly one of the most ridiculous jalop houses I’ve ever seen. 80's trans am, Honda S2000, 4 door Wrangler, 90's hyundai and a boat that never gets pulled out of the garage haha. Talk about all over the place.

Next door to me is a RWD Durango R/T (newest style) which is parked behind the garage space for the C5 Z06.

Across from this guy is an 86 Lincoln Town Car, which is gorgeous.

And down a few from the Town Car is a guy with a nice late 50's Chevy.

Down around the corner is a last generation Roush Mustang.

Around the other corner is a drag set up Fox Body Mustang.

There’s also a CJ7 Jeep that’s commonly used properly off road down the street.

Used to be a Delorean that never moved but the guy finally got it together and sold it. It was such a sad waste sitting there.

I think that’s all, but knowing this neighborhood someone else has something I don’t know about yet.

Pretty decent mix in my hood. Cars I see parked nearby on a regular basis -

- one house has a brand new X6M and an X5M (both vinyl wrapped in matte black)...not sure if quite jalop, but something

- IS300 manual

- another E30 325i (in addition to mine)

- B5 Audi Avant “RS4"...pretty sure its an S4 that’s been modded

- Super clean Corvair

- Landcruiser FJ60 all decked out for offroading

- Recently also saw a yellow LR Defender race truck like deal just parked on the street, but couldn’t snap a picture. Custom fuel tank taking up the bed, hardcore suspension and wheels, lights all over, all beat up, looked awesome

- E39 540i touring

- NB Miata in british racing green with a yellow stripe and Lotus badging...not sure if trolling, but I find it amusing

- E60 550i in a beautiful dark green

- Audi S6 Avant (from the early 2000s) and also a Allroad from the same era, always near each other - presumably same owner or a block of too many unstable humans.

- A few KTM bikes but I don’t know bikes well enough to say much else

Being San Francisco I’m sure there are a lot more goodies parked away in garages, this is just what I see on the street on a daily basis....also being the alternate reality it is out here, brand new 911s, BMWs, Mercs etc. are pretty much all over the place and kind of don’t even get noticed anymore unless its something really special.

5 Series GT (this has got to be worth some Jalop points by now)
W140 MB S500

The typical garage has any combination of RAV-4, CR-V, Highlanders, Camcords, etc. Overall, a fairly healthy percentage of unconventional cars, although I am by far the terror of the neighbourhood with the ‘98 355 (I admit that does not make me particularly Jalop in the traditional sense).

Just down the street, outside of my private complex, lies a very very Jalop house. There’s a lowered NSX, a lowered RX-7 AND a lowered B6 S4. And those are the cars sitting outside .

Mine’s not Jalop at all. It’s a generic middle class suburb.

There’s one old couple a few doors down with sort of matching Mustangs, newish, loud, one’s maybe like a 2005 Saleen, the other same vintage GT or Cobra or something and another old American muscle car of some sort, maybe like a 66ish Camaro. But they’re not very friendly so I haven’t had a close look.. And then there’s a really clean C4 Audi, someone else has a Mini. Around the corner there’s a 78ish Lincoln Continental Town Car. Someone has a newer Camaro, but he drives like an ass, speeding around kids playing. One of these days he’s gonna get a rock through the window... Same goes for the lifted Yukon/Tahoe driver that likes to driver over the “kids playing” signs.

And that’s it for interesting cars. The rest is generic SUVs, Camrys, Corollas, LaSabres, Priuses, minivans, a few little ford picksups, nothing interesting.

Man, this is totally a thread that would be better posted on a Friday night, so I could take photos on Saturday morning.

Guy across the street from me special ordered the ‘16 Camaro in that blue...you know, THAT blue (hnnnnng), about a week before they hit the dealerships. (He said the initial shipments to the dealers only had black, silver, red, and yellow, I think?)

In addition to that: two late model Challengers (one is an SRT), a previous gen Mustang, a late ‘90s Camaro, a beat-to-hell-but-being-rebuilt Integra, a mid ‘00s Crown Vic, two current gen Mazda6s, a being-restored (for the last five years)‘ 55 Bel Air, a pre-Volare Plymouth Duster, and a rough EK9 Civic. Oh, and my LS400, of course.

Mine is very tame. There’s a house nearby with 3 SAABS, 2 wagons and a ‘vert.

There’s one nearby where my friend works, it has a house with a bunch of different Alfas and another with a Legnum VR-4.
