Except a few blade lovers and maybe the occasional anime fan, I added a new blade to my collection of “Things that will hurt if I stab or hit you with them”

Looks like a whaler’s knife. Then again, I know nothing about knives.

Nice! You know what that would be good for? Cutting line through Brazilian peppers. You can’t efficiently chop those from the outside, the wood is hard and flexible, so when you whack at it with a machete the limbs just bounce out of the way. To make good time you have to crawl to the base of the tree and cut them there, where they’re constrained and can’t move out of the way. The problem with that is that it is very hard to swing a normal-sized machete in such tight quarters, and that’s where a short, heavy knife comes in handy.

Nice :) I try and bring back something from each faraway place I go to. Pride of place is a big 2-foot machete I man aged to bring back from Venezuela :)
I’m heading to Borneo in August so hopefully I’ll bring back a parang from there.

this guy's little brother. Nice. I can vouch for big brother's effectiveness on brush, small trees, ropy vines and springy undergrowth. And zombies, definitely zombies, so it's good you are prepared with a hand-carry version.
