What a strong, compelling, and well worded argument you’ve made.

Why are they trash? They're pretty great starter bikes — so much so that lots of MSF courses used to use them for their students.

They are the motorcycle equivalent of a diesel sports car.

/Don’t ride

/Was in a Buell store one time and didn't understand why the redline was only 6k until I looked underneath.

Kinja'd!!!

I had one

fun little bike.torquy, easy to learn how to ride, cheap to get parts for.

cons? they werent incredibly well buit. I had the shifter arm rotate out of postiojn (easy fix) and the carb fall off on me twice (also an easy fix)
seat is also VERY low (and can be made lower with the ‘low seat’ option)

its not a bad bike, it got 70mpg, and its easy to work on. w/e wise siler said about it was over done. I’d buy mine back in heart beat if I could afford to insure a second bike.

Just don’t buy a Blast but the others you can make an argument for if that is what you really want...

Like everyone else had said, they were bargain beginner bikes in the sense that bargain meant cheaply made - they were essentially the equivalent to a badly made Honda CBR250R.

Also, it's been a while since we talked.

Haven’t ridden a Blast, but it’s supposedly a bit of a paint shaker. I havent ridden the air cooled bikes at all, but the owners fawn over them. BadWeatuerBikers has is a giant knowledge base of info the Buells.

Minus the stator issue on my Rotax 1125CR, my bike has been reliable and is a blast ;) to ride. No stats, but I’d put money on Buells overall having less Stuntaz and squids in the crowd, so most likely you have better odds of getting a well cared for bike with lower miles. Which describes mine pretty much. Anyways, they’re a little wonky, but a lot of fun.

(old thread I know but kinja decided it was popular)

the shift and carb thing happened to me too, I just wanted to share that I was apparently not the only one with a total WTF moment...

Low seat is good because not many bikes offer it THAT low, my wife is 5'3"and could flat foot it
