We’ve been tailgated many times because of our Florida license plate on this rental car (I’m in Ohio right now). And this optima’s transmission has been already prehooned to death! When engaging in reverse, I feel the torque converter/transmission slipping!

Edit spotted one already

Is it really the plate? I don’t think modern drivers really need a reason to tailgate, they just don’t know any better.

I think you’re either driving too slow for the style of the area or it is just Ohio.

From the picture, it kinda looks like you are sitting in the left hand/passing lane. Perhaps you could try moving over?

From the photo it looks to me like you’re in the left lane, with faster traffic behind you. Not that I’m justifying tailgating, but the solution seems obvious if my observations are correct.

That said, some of the most gutless rentals I’ve had were Kia’s. Not sure if they just can’t handle the abuse of a rental and fall apart fast, or if they’re all like that.

This human then pulled away to tailgate another.

Bad trans in a Honda? Not too surprising.

Yea that’s not cool. Especially considering they’re already in the right lane. For some it’s just a driving style it seems. WA is especially bad for that. Haven’t driven in Ohio.

It was the middle lane, and was going at traffic speed.

Thats not tailgatin’

Its only tailgatin if you cant see the car’s grill in your rear view mirror.

When I tailgate, Im close enough to see the driver’s face through his rear view mirror, that way when we make eye contact, I can give him my wtf speed up look.

If there’s a lane to your right and you’re not passing people or allowing merge room for a ramp move it over.

I’ve never heard of anyone being tailgated because of their plate. Only for being slow in the wrong lane.

The only thing I know about driving in Ohio (between the airport in Kentucky and a Cincinnati suburb called Mason) is that there is one broke-down car for every 5 miles of Interstate. Always, rain or shine. It’s Breakdown City out there.

Well, that and the fact that people are a bit slow to get out of the left-land lane sometimes.

Here in Virginia 1.5 car lengths is common at all traffic speeds above 40mph, below that speed if you can see your shadow you’re way too far back. Even at noon. I got tailgated in the middle lane while behind another car with BOTH lanes to either side wide open.

Florida plate has nothing to do with it. Driving in Ohio will always get you tailgated. We’re all dicks here.
