An SUV spanning 2 compact spaces also labeled for “low emitting vehicles.” It was not a hybrid either, I checked.

Obviously they can’t see the lines, because they can't see that thing is hideous.

Those 4Runners should be allowed their own special parking spots where they get covered with a brown paper bag. I can't think of any other car in existence that went from "Beautiful" to "Horrid" in just two generations. Even the fascia is crying, just look at it.

It is a great example irony.

I would immediately park my decatted demuffled e38 in any space claiming to be for “low emitting vehicles only”.
Partially because fuck that arbitrary bullshit, but also because technically at idle the car emits low frequency burbles from the exhaust thus qualifying it as a low emitting vehicle. Their fault for not specifying what type of emission on the sign.

I’ve parked my Tahoe in an electric-car charging space before. I popped the hood, threw cable into the engine bay, and (gently) closed the hood again. Nobody knew the difference.

You just missed the part where the 4Runner ate the two compact cars that were previously there.
The two are still technically in their spots.

I believe you were thinking of the hybrid hilander. (Awful car)
I think a hybrid 4runner wouldn’t be a bad idea. Electric motors for low speed off-roading where all you need is torque.

The signs annoy me too, but worry not because absolutely nobody follows them and it’s not enforced.

It’s “compact” and “low emitting” as compared to, oh, this.

I don’t mind parking in Low emissions vehicle spots, even this car is a Low Emission Vehicle II (LEV-II). I’m pretty sure that all cars in the US after 2004 have to be “LEV” taking up 2 compact spots is annoying though.

The more offroad and the TRD version is actually really cool looking. I think the cheaper one could be better.
